This is what I´m trying to do. I'm doing as follows, correct me if i´m doing something wrong. I open my scene in Maya, i stand my camera then i create the camera animations. After that I open the script, insert the path of octane, project path and insert a new name in Project Name. Select the camera and press Render. Until then everything is right, the octane opening, I set the scene and save the scene as a .ocs file. After that I go back to the script, do the same procedure but I use the option "use existing project." When I press render it opens the octane but all the settings I had done is lost, as if I had not made any changes.
What am I doing wrong?

Thank you by the attention!

I finally got it, but already found a Bug. :( When I use an already existing project and press the button "Render" He does not use the setup that I´ve created in the Octane, but when I use an already existing project and press "Render animation" it uses the setup of the scene. My last doubt is also about the video cards. I own three GTX 480 video cards in SLI mode. How do I enable them to render the animation, because during the render animation hes usíng only one video card. :)

This is what I did and it seems to work for me.
1. I start a new file and in the maya2octane interface I type in the name of the new ocs file name, for instance, "sc01_render,"
when Octane starts up, it will create a file named "sc01_render.ocs" in the folder, and an "sc01_render.mtl" file, and an "sc01_render.obj"
that seems will replace as the frame progress.
2. fine tune light direction and texture in Octane, then before it finish render the first image, I would save a new file, "sc01_render_new.ocs"
3. cancel render, exit Octane, and Esc Maya.
4. go to the folder where you save your ocs file, and delete the old "sc01_render.ocs", rename "sc01_render_new.ocs" back to "sc01_render.ocs"
5. don't touch the mtl file, nor obj file (usu. obj file won't exist anyways)
6. back to Maya, kill the maya2octane interface, and recall it up again, this time instead of create a new ocs file, I assign the one that already exists.
7. it should then render fine.

That's bit of tedious way of how i manage to make it work....maybe it is repetitive and unecessary in some steps...but it serves fine for me.
Hope it helps.

Pretty sure I read somewhere that Octane does not use SLI, so if you remove the SLI then it should work.

...Three GTX480....it must be hot....
I think GTX480 is too hot that it crashes my PC three times (blue screen) when I try to render about 100 or so frames.
I check the temperature, it's about 89C, still sounds pretty normal.
how stable is yours?

:) sorry for delay i was sleeping...

i have check all the report u wrote here, ;) and, i know this will sound incredible, but everything u wrote works here :)

@vanlicht

all cams work, i just checked and i can conform that everything is working 99% (1% is luck ;) )

here is a quick tour how i do:

1. open maya scene, set the camera, light etc..
2. run script
2.1 set the exe path for octane
2.2 set the path for project, and set the project name, save settings (from menu in left corner)
2.3 select the camera u want to use (same for the light, recommended directional light)
2.4 if ur sure u set everything right, click on Render frame button (dont close the exporter window)
3. octane should start with the camera u select and u should see all the obj in the scene
4. tweak the shaders for obj inside octane, and other settings
5. SAVE the scene and close the octane
6. try to move camera around (for test) and click again on Render frame button
7. octane should start again and u should have new camera position with old object BUT with the shaders u set in the step 4.

if step 7. is not as i wrote then something is wrong (maybe its me/script)
8. if everything goes as it should ;) u can continue to animation part
9. go back to maya set the animation range (by default script takes range from maya scene)
10. set the samples, hit render and get a coffee ;)

cheers ;)

thanks for writing this plugin !

the only problem Ive encountered is making the plugin tell octane to render with both gpu's.

although i always have to add the 2nd gpu in the octane device manager. is there a way to make octane default to use all gpu's ?

Hi Bazuka,

Some issues noticed about OC Beta2.2 RC2,
not sure if it's maya related.

With RC1 ony the first time you create a new scene, the GPU option works.
After reload the scene, noting happens.
Think this is the same with RC2.
Also not a script error ;)
