I've been playing around with the Light Beams post effect a bit and ran into an issue that seems to occur when combining the effect with a custom aperture within the universal camera. The post effect is still applied, but has changed in shape (as if the scene geometry is no longer properly blocking the light?).

I've attached a stripped down scene that also includes a screenshot - I'm most likely not allowed to share the aperture texture (one of the GSG ones), so I just used an rgb spectrum as temp for the upload. The issue seems to persist even then => so the moment I switch the aperture shape of the universal cam to custom.

Quick side question: Even with the standard thinlens cam, light beams don't really seem to like DOF, resulting in some sharp edges once the effect is activated. Is this simply a limitation of the light beams, due to them being a post effect and not the actual Octane volumetrics? Would make complete sense, I'm just asking to be sure. : )

Adding to my last post, here's the screenshot from the zip as a solo file, in case other users have encountered this issue/limitation?

And absolutely, I am aware that these light beams are cheats and therefore can't be expected to do everything volumetrics can!

Hi Tim0042,
yes correct, post volume effect cannot work correctly with DOF.
The core devs have tried to solve the issue, but for now, this is a limitation of the post volume effect.

If LV is in full screen mode it doesn't update view if C4D viewport is used for camera manipulating.

After loading new HDR or other big image which freeze for second C4D, LV is always switching to sub sampling mode. I reported this many times. Is this behavior really impossible to change ?

1- You need viewport is still open to have camera updates.
2- I'm fixing issues when I encountered, show me it with a video and give the scene if necessary. Btw there are a "perf. timer" in settings. It activates the flags if update procedures becomes heavy to have faster LV refresh. It maybe about this

Please see video. It looks like subsampling issue occur only while hdr maps are loaded via xpresso rig like this one. Also next issue - if fullscreen LiveViewer is opened from Octane Dialog Box it doesn't have any window bar to move it to different position. Anyway it looks great without bar.

If Octane Bar is docked zoom info doesn't work, it is locked. This on screen info is really not visible on most of the background colors :

If Octane Node Editor, Viewer and Octane Dialog windows are stored and saved in C4D Layout 80% of the time one of Octane windows completely doesn't work - it is locked, freeze and not responding.

Purpose of having it without anything that's to make it full screen for presentations. You can maximize/close it via shortcuts, ctrl+TAB. Dialog window is required for this mode.
Send your project and layout file then I can try to reproduce, doesn't happen on me! Also send your "oct.dat" file from prefs directory.

It works on me, send your used layout. It maybe about it.

Please see, most of the time one of the Octane window is locked after switching layout. Also while zooming this small info box with arrows never appear or it is locked during zooming.

After some time if Octane LiveViewer has disabled menu and icons the same is going in Octane Dialog Box which had menu and icons enabled :

There is no way to enable them without restarting layout.
