Not seeing any speed improvement with v4.
I'm a total noob with Standalone, so I'm probably missing something very basic.
Been a v3 user for about a year and always use the C4D plugin.
Installed v4. Opened a scene. Used "Edit in Standalone" command. v4 standalone opens the scene but no performance improvement over v3.
Do scenes need to be "transitioned" in some way to take advantage of the speed gains in v4?
Thanks in advance.

I write again for the crash issue during ai denoise. Is it because of the beta?
There are a few issues with XB1 denoiser - there is a limit to the image size you can denoise currently, and also using the denoiser with a processor that does not support AVX instructions does not work, and a handful of other problems that we are working to solve. We will be making an XB2 release soon, but can't say exactly when. As is the nature of an experimental release, there will be many fixes coming.

Anyways would be nice to hear someone from Otoy..
Several stability issues with loading alembic archives have been fixed, which will be in XB2.

Possible Bug-
I imported a straight FBX (not through ORBX or alembic) and went to connect a thin lens camera to the cam input of the Render Target node.
The 'line link' will not connect to the cam node, it's as if I am dragging it into the wrong node type.
Thx
EDIT: I forgot to connect it to a Render Target, that fixed it!

Scene processing and load speed has been incredibly improved. You probably missed that due logic of standalone. Also AI denoiser is another weapon.

This is an AWESOME idea for Octane to speed up the workflow...
Have it where you can just 'drag and drop' textures onto a node slot in the Node Inspector scene list, from a Windows folder, with a mouse. In preferences you could have it what you would want it to default to (ie - Diffuse RGB Image), and then you could simply drag the 'color'/ 'albedo'/ 'diffuse' image onto th enode, amnd it would load the image in automatically into the Diffuse>RGB Image slot.
EH?!!!!...YES????
And, once it has the image loaded in, you can drag and drop all the other maps in, too!!!! Normals, Bump, Displacement, Opacity, etc.
Think how awesome of a workflow enhancement this would be.
Not that there is anything wrong with click and search.
But this would be....
FASTER!!!!
OCTANE FASTER.

So free users can have 2 GPUs...
If I have multiple machines, each with 2 GPUs... (no network renders)... Octane 4 is free?

I already own a Octane combo license with several plugins and interested in purchasing the Octane plugin for Houdini. I understand it costs $219 right now but with it going to be free to use on V4 made me hesitant to purchase.

Yes, but I would make sure you switch to V3 before V4 is final, as there is no guarantee this upgrade path will cover you from V2 beyond that point.

Do we need to uninstall Octane 3 before using 4?
The reason I ask is because when I open the Poser plugin, at the top it still says "Octane 3" and I don't see any DeNoiser option in the Camera settings, and also the render speed seems the same as before with Octane 3.
