I don't know Poser, but it probably just displaces geometry, but doesn't render micro-polygon displacement which is what Octane does. The latter requires very little memory, since only the base geometry is stored and the displacement map.
My issue is that CUDA limits my GTX580 to only 32 grayscale maps, so I wanted to use procedural maps whenever possible, but Octane displacement does not allow it.

That limitation is long gone.

You mean the GTX580 is no longer limited by CUDA to only 32 gray scale maps? How many are allowed now?

From 2.05 I believe
No more limit in number of RGB or Greyscale textures. Only limit left is that the textures have to fit in VRAM

Wow I didn't know that either. That's... great!

Indeed, that alone greatly expands the possibilities. With the number of maps limited, I would run out of texture slots WAY prior to using even a third of the available VRAM. Now I can render much bigger scenes!! ^_____^

I have refreshed the installers at the top of this thread with:

2.16.0.38
- Compiled with Octane 2.16
- Daylight illumination power has been re-calibrated (pls see Octane Standalone 2.16 release notes for details)

Thanks for the continued amazing work on the plug-in, Paul!

This source doesn't contain any primitives!

Lots of displacement stuff assigned automatically in the scene. DM Productions stuff.
I'll turn off displacement see if it goes away....

Yup.. that did it... need a 'remove all displacement automatically assigned by plug-in' command.
