i installed llike this.
Karba asked you do you have some other program running parallel with 3dsmax that could steal memory from graphic cards. Maybe your renders failed because of lack of free memory on graphic cards.

Hi vfxman83,

I have had this problem a lot of times. That's because you have too much geometry in your scene, at least more than 1.97Gb (your card limit).

I suggest you to use movable proxyes for vegetation and to use layers for reducing geometry.

But although if you don't do this, Octane can render this scene as it is (with a little trick):

1- Restart your computer and open the scene
2- Hide the highpoly elements (or layers)
3- Start Octane render viewport and when it starts rendering pause it (if you have less than your card limit of geometry it will start rendering)
4- Unhide what you have hidden before
5- Resume renderer and "update render geometry" (it will say RENDER IS FAILED again and again, but it will render)

Hope it helps

is there any progress to a replacement of Corona Proxies in Octane workflow, I mean Octane own system ?
maybe orbx or alembic as proxy

Karba I used only 3ds max program when I was rendering and I used Asus gpu tweak software for oc.

You are running out of memory. You have only 1.9 gb available for Octane. The scene you have seems quite large.
Probably Max viewport takes some of your mem and not enough left for Octane.

You could try to render only with the GPU that is not used for display.

Hi, Karba! I do not know if sombody already reported this, but I've found this bug. Below are the renders of the same mesh with the same smoothing done under MAX 2014 Octane 2.02 preview and then imported as Alembic in Standalone 2.02. Defenitely something wrong in the Standalone picture, since the smooth is rough compare to MAX preview render. So, is it a bug or?

Update: It is working correct in OctaneRender for 3ds max® v2.01

hi karba
we got some strange issues with the frame buffer in higher resolutions:
stripes.jpg
the clone to framebuffer worked, the image also looked like it had to.

win8.1
nvidia driver 335.23
one gtx used for display, all other gtx 680 rendering, no memory overflow (all have 4 gb)

I have the right to complain if i buy something that doesnt work properly as it was offered. Please feel free to delete this post i dont care anyway, am done with this. (Btw i just failed on client delivery for the freaking bugs) Thanks!
no offense but you can't blame otoy or karba for failing client delivery. it's your software choice and your job to calculate the risk of using it in your production pipeline.
