Any new news on the release of 2.3?

they're probably doing one last build before Siggraph, where Octane will be shown on GPU-X machines, so I wouldn't expect to see anything before next week

Hi guys,
Yeah we've got a lot going on currently including siggraph.
We're working very hard on 2.3 (doing a lot of overtime) and i'm pretty sure you will all be amazed by the new stuff in it.
It will blow away the competition and piracy at the same time
It's a lot of work though, so i would'nt expect a release this week, *maybe* at the end of next week, but i can't promise anything.
We'd like to get the new features to combat piracy finished before we give an area lights capable intermediate release otherwise it will end up cracked after a few days.

One of the things I like about Octane is that both the Mac and Windows versions generate the same hardware ID when you run both on the same physical machine, with Boot Camp for the Windows side. I hope your new scheme won't be so picky that it considers these to be two separate machines.

it's based on your ethernet address, so it probably won't change since that's the same on both platforms (it's hard-wired). I don't think you'll see any performance difference between platforms - it's not like most cross-platform compilers, has very little CPU/OS interaction so it will probably be virtually identical in both platforms. So, it's not like Maya 2011 - it's not
faster on OS X

it's based on more than the ethernet adres alone, and as i've already said we're not changing the protection system.
we're just modifying octane with new features that will leave users of cracked copies with something that's hardly useable.

I hope in the future, and mesh in octane can move into comfortable positions, and import new mesh ?

Piracy has cost me emitter lights in 2.3?
Time to go get the hunting gun dusted off.

Hi guys,
I'm going to write a post in detail about our anti-piracy plan later today or tomorrow.
We've decided to change the workflow completely, and instead of putting more burden onto paying customers with complex anti-piracy systems,
we decided to do it the inverse way, in a way that will eliminate piracy and make customer's lives a lot better.
Yours,
Radiance

Also, I anxious to see what neat tricks Radiance has up his sleeve, I'm sure it'll be lots of fun.
