I've looked at the scene and this is unrelated to the original problem; that can indeed be addressed with the workaround I suggested.
My guess is that the desire here is to save an image from the live viewer containing the rendered image composited over the background. This is not possible at the moment because the save functionality is provided by Octane core, but the concept of a "background" is an aspect of C4D. For this to work the plugin would need to ask Octane to save the imager to a buffer, and then composite the buffer over the background before saving it, rather than asking Octane to save the image itself.
If you save a picture via LV (LDR / sRGB) - it does not work. If rendered through PV Cinema4d - it works (LDR / sRGB)

Yes, on C4D R25, though not in any real hurry. Over half of my other plugs haven't been updated either.
Still could use it to test 2021.1 while I keep working with 2020.2.5 on S24 for projects.

It's available for 2021.1 windows version, but having build issues yet on MAC.
