Why does Daz Studio fail to start after the update has been installed, it simply crahses?
The 1.2 version works before the update is applied.

I can confirm that although Daz crashed when loading genesis with any textures with the full version, the upgrade version works and does not crash.

There are a couple of bugs though:

1. If you apply materials in daz, it doesn't copy them over to Octane materials. This is annoying, not really a show-stopper and I'd say it's a medium priority bug not high priority.
2. Materials in octane are not saved with the scene. So if you painstakingly go through and recreate the daz materials in octane and then save the scene in daz, if you then reload the scene in daz the materials are gone. This is a high priority showstopper.

Unless I'm missing something.

I have the same issue. Daz hangs at startup (Building interface...)

I had this problem. What worked for me was the following: I downloaded the full installer, installed it, activated it, and the downloaded the upgrade installer and installed that one. After that it's working now. Maybe that works for you, too?

OK - an observation here....

The export as orbx "works" in that it saves the entire scene along with materials.
But.... it doesn't relink them to surfaces... you still have to manually relink.

ok, a couple of points:

- 1st i removed the link to the _preview_ installer from oct,2 from the 1st post - it was only meant to have a full installer at hand with all 3 valid versions; it needs half a day to prepare this full installer, so i can't do that for every update. the v15_v21 updater is meant to install the latest version and nothing else... currently on hold!

pls make sure you have installed this file in case of problems. the info image in the OctaneLive tab of the main plugin pane now shows the full & correct version and also the build nbr.; also the small banners on top of every tab are showing correct version numbers (since they are now imprinted programmatically).

- there was a problem with the debug.log in %homepath%\OctaneRender it could grow quite big, so i added a truncate function that runs during studio startup. apparently this could lead either to delay the startup for a very long time, or even crash studio, if that file was extremely big. i'm going to add a method to the installer/updater that removes that file to avoid such problems for the future.

- apparently there is a problem with switching uv sets on genesis 2 (or maybe also gen 1) based figures. this might explain several problems during content load. going to address that now and expect to have a fix within a day.

- i'm going to address a few other problems posted here via pm, because they need specific research.

I get a message : "this plugin account is not valid for version 2.x"

everything up to date... octane standalone and daz studio
any workarounds for this? in daz studio plugins it shows up greenish but no live activation or connection
You need to purchase the 2.0 upgrade.
i did that months ago :) they told me there will be some kind of placeholder for the daz plugin 2.1 then... but seems not to work then?

installed the latest (...15_v21.exe) and using 2.117 of DAZ Studio (copied folder) - this won't show anything valid (see pic). The standalone Octane EXE shows activated.

EDIT!!!: I got it working. Really odd. (Leaving this here for others)...
I had to run the old Daz/plugin/etc - where it said I was deactivated. Clicked the 'Activation Manager' and filled in the info from the website (reg/password). I had to restart the old Daz for it to 'really' activate. Then I could run the newly copied folder with the new Daz plugin for it to get it.

I can confirm that none of the Octane materials are being saved with the scene. Unlike with the first version, when I open a saved scene, everything is without materials when it is first loaded. I can manually reload all of the DAZ materials, but then I have to go back and redo all the Octane materials again.
