Next thing (also minor) :
When using Function > Remove unused materials from the material manager menu, materials in an Octane mix material are not protected. For example, the mix material is applied to a glass sculpture but neither of the 2 materials in the mix material are directly applied to anything. So they are removed by the command. This is a very frequently used command for scene management so it would be good if eventually, the mix materials could be protected.

similar to vray materials. I'll add custom command for this issue

Work perfect thx

just one thing if you save your layout and re-open cinema4d the windows where you place your octane windows mark as missing pluging.
look my screen shot. and you need some time to render all texture for the rest is work fine

How do you set the desired rendertime pr frame when rendering an animation?

Hi,
looks nice so far, but I have some major problems:
When I add a daylight, I cannot adjust the hight of the sun
and when I try the other method with c4d-sun-tag the changes
does not seam to work.
Also, If I add any new environment (texture or daylight) I loose
my textures. The sphere f.e. had a texture-material applied.
Any tips on this?
thanks
Mike
And when I quit C4D I get 3 or 4 "API"-Errors and C4D crashes!

As I understand it there is no rendertime option. Instead you can set the desired samples per pixel.
You will get varying rendertimes but the noise ratio stays the same throughout the rendering.
If it was possible to restrict the renderer to a certain rendertime and some parts of your animations need longer to clear up (because of more complex calculations) in the final rendered animation you would see more noise in those frames than in the others (that were easyer to calculate) and that would look strange in my opinion.
Just adjust the sample rate so you get about the render time you want!
Cheers,
Silverwing

... that would be something vrayforc4d didnt manage to do for years

the problem can be easily circumvented by dropping the used mats on an empty null object.
the "remove duplicate materials" command is more important to work properly,
(if it doesnt already)... with vrayforc4d there was the issue that when copying stuff to and back through different
files, you ended up with duplicate materials that couldnt be removed with "remove duplicate materials",
that's more annoying.
but these things are not really priority issues i think
much more important are material mapping things like
support of all projection modes, selection tags, mix materials, tiling, etc

Hi,
there is no mapping types on Octane. All mappings are converting to uvmapping before rendering. also selection tag is working.
what is the problem? if you post on c4d forum, will help
Also for daylight problem. if you place manually suntag will work. some object presets need revision
