if you like to make a mesh light invisible, just set it's opacity to zero...

guess j7th is talking about Octane lights not mesh lights, these can be turned invisible in the vray renderer.

Octane hasn´t lights, only meshlights.
If you use "Octane lights", the plugin create a mesh with a diffuse emission material.
And the problem should be solved, if the plugin will have the option to set the opacity from the created diffuse material to 0.

For your information…whatever it’s worth

A friend of mine who is owner of another production company stopped by the studio to talk about production and was amazed by the screen on my computer which was the window into 3d Max and OCTANE. After a few camera moves my friend watched the OCTANE screen update…He was totally amazed! My friend pulled out his credit card and demanded I bring him to your site so he could make a purchase....done. During the time he was filling out information on your website to make the purchase for the program and plug-in…the conversation came up to why I’m not using this plug-in for my project, "Well, It can't render a camera flythrough without reloading all of the geometry on every frame to the video card….and sometimes that reload takes longer than the actual render. With that, my friend put his credit card back in his pocket and the screen was closed. He laughed and made the comment of how ridiculous that was especially since I could move the camera throughout the scene.

It seems to me, before you worry about key framable materials, Z buffer or any of the other stuff…that you would take care of the one simple thing that would make your plug-in explode on the market! Simple motion of objects or camera without having to reload geometry! This really seems like a no-brainer...In my opinion this should be the focus of your development team. Right now, your program is a nice rendering engine for stills but useless for an animator. I’m still trying to figure out who uses turntable animation? This function is useless for anyone with a different camera path. The number one thing you have to do is MOTION WITHOUT RELOAD…camera or object. Otherwise, this is just a toy. TIC TOC… time is short…a close connection I have with Autodesk tells me they know who Refractive software is and that they are working on similar GPU options that will make your engine a not needed purchase. The only reason I mention this is because I have cash invested and I don’t want that to be a lost investment or for you to lose.

Am I wrong?

as octane is still under heavy development, all this will happen. and as einstein already pointed out, everything including & especially time is relative ;) also "simple" things may be a bit less simple under the hood, and need their time to be done right. and if autodesk is really working on something similar, that doesn't mean, that they will be able to pull out something just even close over night...

enable opacity animation of individual object without messing with duplicated material

I'm using Rayfire at the moment and when you tell RF that an object is a glass it automatically animates the visibility.

please report which Octane parameters can be animated and which don't.

Thank you

here is a low tech fix for the camera wishlist for perspective correction.

set your render pixel ratio to that of a portrait image - something like 1:2 (w:h)
set up your camera as a horizontal camera at the height and position you want it at
render the region you want for you image - verticals will be vertical still but you will be simulating looking down. if you are forcing extreme perspective correction, you may need to increase the ratio to 1:3

please ignore the image itself...

-> What about button with "material preset wizard" inside map editor? (glass\gold\metall\plastic\sss-cheese....)

-> And I realy need more then 2 layers in mix material - 5 оr about!!! Сombine the Mix-materials into one another completely illogical!!!

-> It is possible to go close to BSDF style of material and exclude the specular and to operate with the IOR and Fresnel? Or may be greate new type "BSDF-material"?

Do not swear strongly :)

in this case the camera is on the floor. Vray perspective correction works differently, in Octane for Max there is no feedback in the viewport.
