hi were you able to render phoenix 3 with this build? I dont see octane volume modifier anywhere like we had it for phoenix 2.2

Coilbook..i havent even installed this build yet..finishing up a job..but volume is NOT a modifier but an object under octane objects..check if its still there. :).

hi yes it is But for phoenix 2.2 jimstar made a modifier which is a lot more convenient to use than octane object then load VDB then align it with phoenix sim box. I hope they will add the modifier back like 2.2 had

when octane render window is open clicking adaptive sampling on and off makes rendering stop at sample 1. Even restarting 3ds max does not fix the problem

Try to switch to Noise layer in Octane Live Window. Rendering should start then.
This is temporary workaround I've found.

Frankly it's buggy as hell..got this now and sometime it just stuck like a region render without actually picking it up.. getting slightly annoyed about this ..AS is a bit of a lottery and need to tweak so much is almost.I don't know..

and switch t oBeauty back does not fix..it just stuck, all this because of changing of the Noise Treshold while rendering... :twisted:

thanks it works on noise but going back to beauty makes it stop

I hate to such a pest BUT this version is really buggy in his Switching and stopping at 1 sample even if I saved all the paramaters..hours to test and tweaks and now this.

no matter which pass I change when back to beauty it goes back to sample 1 and goodbye.. and IF i close the viewport to try reopen it it tells me that the viewport is still open even if I clearly close that last..

disappointed

Sorry, but stability is not the priority in test releases, especially in this case. Users pushed for us to get out a 3.06 test build to try out asap, rather than wait for a stable release, so Q&A was minimal. We're working to address all reported issues here and turn around a new release quickly.

Does this problem appear with "regular" rendering - not via Octane Live View?

In my case regular rendering isn't affected, and switching to Noise and back to Beauty in Live View fixes it.
Maybe these clues help a little.
