You will need to create the scene fresh with 2.1 version. If your scene has any 1.2 materials, then what you mentioned happens. I had a scene made under 1.2 that I wanted to use with RedSpec. But as it kept giving me problems, I deleted my character from the scene. Saved a copy of it. Then created a new scene under 2.1 with just my character and applied the RedSpec SSS. After that did a scene merge and imported the scene I saved without my character. Saving the scene and opening this new scene again maintained the materials. The render I have attached in my last post is made in this way.
In general, if you start with 2.1 scene, the materials should stick. With 1.2 materials there are still problems.

A major issue that makes the new build unusable for em:
After I save, close and reopen my project, all my materials are unlinked. Which means I have to relink every mat after I close the project or shutdown my computer.
I´ve changed directly from version 1.2 to build 4, so is this something build 3 maybe doesn´t have so I could switch back to that? I´m working with the RedSpec SSS for Genesis 2 which doesn´t work with 1.2, so going all the way back isn´t really an option!
best wishes
So I´ve tested this, result is only a minor improvement: Now when I open the scene I created from scratch in 2.1, it loads all the materials EXCEPT the Genesis 2 RedSpec SSS. I really have no clue what causes this, but I plan on reformatting my hard drive anyway, maybe that´ll fix it. I´ll report.

Thanks linvanchene for pitching in.
Hubby72, I think this will be fixed by t_3 to behave like before. Just that if you want to use the emitters with the 4th release, we need to take these steps. Guess we all need to wait for the 5th release to see if this is fixed.
Hubby72 wrote:Ah linvanchene , that is nice info that camera settings will have impact.
I already did what rajib also describes , but that is what i mean with different behaviour.
The lights i setup that way did not had the same distribution and power as i had it before. Much less power and not the same values of distribution - no matter how high set the the level.
At the end it messes up my lights because to much power ends up in very grainy scene.
For me know it very different to play with emitter lights then it was in 1.2. In my opinion unnessesary because he just mixed up the controls and settings. The way how it works is as far a understood the same as before.

Odd. All my RedSpec shaders are loading when I reopen any scene I created with the 2.1 and had applied the RedSpec in it to my character.

Anyone else have problems with their CMS/content in 4.7 with the Octane plugin enabled? If I have it enabled and try to do a re-import of metadata, it freezes 90% of the time. Once disabled, no problems. Weird?

Hey linvanchene.
I have run with both. I reinstalled all content and started clean through DIM (without installing new PostgreSQL CMS), same behaviour. Are you able to sync metadata without any issues? I can pretty much make it happen from a clean install, first try, with Octane plugin enabled. Again, disabling makes the problem go away - so that is what I've been doing when I need to refresh.

I don't think we ever got a date. But from the sounds of it there were a sizable amount of bugs to fix. That's just what I'm getting reading other's comments in this thread. I know how ya feel though. I tested 2.x for a bit and I'm starting to get anxious to use some of the new features
