Remarkable progress so far. Love to see some more tests as they come through.
Any plans to integrate Mograph Colour/Multi shaders? Or other Cinema 4D shaders for that matter after 2.0?
regards.
Yes, i have many plans. These are on top of order. But it's not easy, i suppose. So i need some stabile releases before that.

And as everyone here: Just one question:

Is there a special reason why we can´t stack/mix shaders in one materialchannel and will it be possible in a futher version?
Nice job! Thanks!
Yes, of course. Octane supports one channel uv and material for each face.

…. hm… i guess you care talking about simple standard c4d network rendering for multiple frames?
but what about distributed rendering? (still rendering using all gpus in the network)
-> this is what would be nice!!

no, he is talking about of the ability to use all the gpu in a lan with one mac directly in live viewer, even if those gpus are in a windows box

ciao beppe

If this is the case I might have to buy myself that new non-cuda Mac Pro after all. Can you tell us anymore about how this would work Aoktar? If the other GPU's are over a Ethernet, would resetting the live viewer (compiling the scene) take extra time to send all the data to the GPU's on the LAN. I just don't understand how we can get realtime live viewing over a LAN. Seams there would be latency issues.

yes.. i can hardly believe this is true, too .)
so you say:
if i have 2 other machines (win or mac) in my network, these are used by the live viewer on my (win or mac) ?
so they are used in a real render (to the picture viewer), too, i guess?
there must be a lag, sending data to the network machines must be slow…..
which interface is used to control this? to enable and disable? do they show in the gpu list?
is this a c4d octane thing, too? or is this the same for the standalone version?
??

hope this can be clarified…. is it documented somewhere?
that is pretty important… certainly a big factor where and how to invest in machines/gpus

Hi all,
I wish to give some explanation for NET rendering. This can help for your future plans.
We have a slave version of Octane. This can launch in client machines. You need standalone license for this. A render node license have not been yet mentioned. On master side, you can use all client gpus over Standalone or C4D plugin. Master pc should have a cuda card with compatible with octane. At least i know like that.
I have experienced some simple tests. It works on LV or picture viewer. When you send scene to LV, render atarts immediately as should be. Participation of clients takes some times as regards networks speed and data sizes. Data is transfering in background and clients quietly starts to help to master. It send compiled render data, not the scene. So there is no worry about textures is on paths.
I'll try to help for clearification this issue

hmok.. sounds very good …
but how about this slave version? where do we get it?
its not free too as it sounds, does cost a full standalone license, correct?

it's for 2.0. It's a indivual exe which can run on dos prompt or as a service. And 2.0 is not out yet. When it's ready for public you will get surely.
I have not details for pricing for render nodes. Currently we use it with our standalone licenses. No need a seperate plugin license. I'll give more info if i have and allowed to announce.
Best,
Ahmet
