Hey Paul,

In your plugin, is there any way to use the clay render mode from Octane where all materials are rendered the same?

Thanks!

I haven't tried this, but can you select your whole scene and assign it to the layer material? Then you can set the Octane material (probably a blank name) and when you open the Octane Viewport the whole scene will use that material. Remember - don't save you scene, is you'll loose all your material assignments.

Hey Paul, ya that would be a destructive option, I wasnt sure if there was some toggle built into the octane render. Thanks though!

Hi, I have updated the 64 bit installer at the top of this thread with:

1.20.1.22
- Fixed issue where closing the plugin with the Viewport on a second monitor would not allow the viewport to be reopened
- Increased the number of scatter transforms from 10,000 to 1,000,000 and improved error checking when loading the CSV file

Iceglance has added a quickstart tutorial at http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=36299.

Hi Paul -
Having a strange issue with animations.
Occasionally - only once every few hundred frames - it seems to stop rendering before the frame finishes rendering - thus halting the animation. This is a difficult thing to troubleshoot as it only happens occasionally, and doesn't seem to have a clear cause. Just a problem because it means that animations can't be reliably left to render overnight...

Tested on both of my graphics cards, still occurs. The animation rendering resumes once the current (halted) frame is closed.

Also - Another animation issue.

When rendering with my two graphics cards (560 & 560 TI) it inconsistently (maybe one in every 10-15 frames) saves on frame twice (ie. as 152.jpg and 153.jpg) and then skips what should have been the second frame (153.jpg in this case). This does not seems to occur with only one graphics card, but I could not tell you for sure if its related.

Sorry for the vague bug reports, but I haven't found a way to consistently reproduce the problem. I am also very close to my V-Ram limit in this scene( and using probably 2 mil scatters) so that may be related...

Hi Newske.

Do you have SLI Disabled? Also, have you run GPU-Z to check your card temp?

I seem to be having issues where the texture UV texture mapping that is applied at object level, I.e. Scaling and rotational position is not being translated through to Octane. Example; I have a vertical stripe bump map properly scaled and UV'd on a wall interior scene but when voxelled into Octane the stripes and the wrong scale and horizontal?

The mapping was tried with planar and box mapping, both failed to rectify the issue.

Any thoughts?

Would it be possible to send me a simple scene which illustrates this problem pls? I can then diagnose the issue. paul at physicalc-software dot com.
