Octane Render will be available for purchase early February 2010 in a beta program
Nobody know the exact day of release ;)

I would say that early Feb has passed, as we are halfway through with Feb. I am eagerly awaiting the purchasable beta, as I really have no use for Octane until I can save a render at a higher resolution than my monitor (screen shots don't cut it).

Hi guys,

I'm sorry but we did lose quite a bit of time with the linux version porting problems about 2 weeks ago,
that has set us back about 1-2 weeks.

We're working as hard as we can to make sure you get something that's going to be very pleasing.
Just a bit of patience ... :)

Yep - understood. I was not bashing. The anxiety and anticipation is like trying to hold back wild horses!

yeah, no problem.
I'd like to be able to have the beta be complete, eg a nice auto-installer,
complete documentation included,
and some additional features that have been askes for a lot... :)

I am sure we would all like to have that too, so stop answering trivial posts like mine, and get busy!

radiance, we appreciate you are working your butt off. no question. many thanks.

if I may venture a thought.

is there any chance of a revised, realistic release date?

if we have an idea of a date even though it's "slidable"it means we can schedule accodingly and, more importantly, we'll leave you alone until then. (it's the checking back all the time with the idea that it was coming out 2 weeks ago, then last week, now this week, soon possibly next week. This is causing the frustrated posts I think).

it's the expectation caused by the uncertainty. A reconsidered date would reduce this.

....also I'm perfectly happy to get the release version with messy installer and no docs rather than wait.

keep up the good work. we know it's a marathon.

The problem with giving a revised date is that that might slip as well and then it starts all over again.

If he is smart he will either:

Give no more estimates; or

Take a page out of Scotty's Engineering Handbook and "Don't tell the Captain what the REAL time to get the job done is!"

:D

Hi guys,

It's not going to be long and i can't give an exact date as i'm not sure, and i don't want to dissapoint anyone when we can't make the promised date.
It's really not far off, just days, not weeks or months.

You don't have to come by and check , you'll receive a news item in your mail when it's here...
