Man did it feel weird going to the hardware store looking for an extension lead normally used for heavy duty power tools.

100% with Glimpse - you need at least 2x1200 for 4xTitans Z, but if you can go with 2x1500. That does not mean that Octane will use 3000W. 4x Titans Z should draw about 1600W under load in Octane, but when you stress them heavily (furmark, games) they may draw 2400W. So if I were you I would go with 2x1500W (ax1500i).

Glimpse - what do you think - isn't 900D too small to handle this? My personal point of view - it is too small. Or external rads come to play.

Maingear proposed using 2x 1200 PSUs. To make the price more appealing to my bosses.

And the Rad design is not yet finalized but the tech from maingear was thinking about 420mm radiator on top and two 240mm radiators at the bottom and if needed another 240mm in the front and take up some drive bays. They want to also stress test using Octane and modify the cooling as needed. I have got to say these guys have been really helpful! I think they like the challenge of a 4 TitanZ system

What is an acceptable operating temp in your opinion and will this configuration meet that standard?

We are trying to make it as simple as possible to set up and tear down so external Rads might be out of the question

those guys know what they are doing, but for system I wouldn't go less then 1500..just for the spikes..Octane is going to use less, bu if You do some weird thing Your system might go down.. (but I guess they are going to do stress testing =)

There's no optimal temp, but on water-cooling with proper rad capacity You would be looking ~50, though if they push OC that might be higher.. =)

external rads is not a problem with quick disconnects..plug out & not a single drop will be spilled pluss You could balance the weight =) when everything is going to be in one box..man it should be heavy =D

anyway, looking forward for performance of this monster =) definitely going to be on top of the hill, as Maingear probably would try to preOC entire system =)

Temp of the water measured in the hottest place in the loop should not exceed 50C. At 60C you'll damage your pumps. My water temp never goes above 40C.
480+2x240 is not enough for 4Titan Z, even with extra 240. That is why I claim 900D is too small.

So when you stress your gpus always look if the water temp stabilizes after certain time - lets say 1h. If your fans spin at 100% and temp rises that means your rad capacity is not enough.

Thanks for the help! I sent Maingear a link to the benchmark and asked that they stress it for 24 hours. They seemed up for the challenge of making this thing work so hopefully they will do whatever it takes to keeps the temps low
