Very Nice!!! :D :D :D

I'll do my best to make time. It was good to participate in the contest last year!

I have some questions:

If I'm sure...I don't can use any soft for the purpose of rendering, even if it is a specific tool for rendering of smoke particles, such as Krakatoa or just to make smoke and fire effects and compose these with the render octane in post, I'm right? I can not do this?
If the answer is no, I can use those effects previously rendered as animated textures in octane? and in case of still images and the same rule?

Finally, if the scene is too heavy...I can break sene into pieces and render separately to join in the post?

Thanks and Good luck to all, I'm sure many great works will be made.

hey guy, to do smoke you can render it in blender, and then make a image sequence.
then put a plane with texture and alpha.
didn't tested it yet but hope it works fine hehe

Hi Rosinho, what you said and one of the options that I've talked in the post but I wonder if this is allowed because it has been rendered in another soft, yes it works but has some limitation. If i can apply smoke in the post will be better but if not I will give with animated textures.

Thanks guy ;)

Hi mlody. I believe that texture of smoke and fire applied in planes permitted ... but I would check with someone on staff Octane to make sure.

thanks :D

I'd already asked about animated textures (w-a-y up-topic) but didn't get an answer.

Of course, that's assuming Octane can use animated image textures and, if so, I'm capable of figuring out how to use them. I've never tried an animation with Octane, so this will be a huge learning curve.

So before I get too far down the wrong track... could someone tell me whether or not A) Octane can use animated textures and B) they're legal for the contest?

Thanks!

I am also planning to use animated textures for the contest.
As long as they all show up and render 100% in Octane and no post work is done there is no problem I guess.

Smoke on a plane works fine. I did it for the emergency flare in my desert scene, but I haven't tried to animate it for rendering in Octane.

Hi everyone,

You are allowed to do smoke and flames on textures/billboards.
This is just the same as adding a brick or tile texture to a floor or wall...

As long as you don't include 3D rendered images made with other engines you are fine, eg only 2D image textures of patterns or surfaces.
The best thing to do is to include a description about what and how you did it when you submit the image, to avoid confusion or perceptions of unfairness by other users...

ofcourse they are... but rendering them in different software... and puting in post - is not permitted :) You can render them in different soft. but You have to put it in Your 3d scene.... :)
