Really happy to hear about Octane Blender getting some love! Is there going to be any official news on the current state of Octane in general? Are there going to be some features that won't make it for the 3x release? Again, I'm only asking just because of how long Otoy in general is quiet. Don't even need a time frame, more like "we're working on it but X feature may not be included for the 3x release"

Hi all,

Good news - the release post for the latest OctaneRender for Blender is now under review and will be ready to release shortly.

This will include the Windows version of the Blender plugin - now running on OctaneRender 3.06.4 (by far a more stable version). There have also been some fixes to the plugin build as well, with more to come. With this release, we are now able to properly work on fixing reported bugs, implementing requested features, and returning to a consistent basis for releases. The VR build will also be updated in line with this. We are looking to follow up with OSX asap, and once we have confirmed that the Linux-related build issues have been resolved we will release that also.

While we will be releasing all three versions simultaneously for subsequent updates, it seemed only right to release as soon as possible with the Windows release at least.

Cheers,
Azen

Thanks Azen, :D
this is a beautiful news. Octane + Blender are exceptional tools,
I really did suffer from seeing the updates did not come up.
Thank you.

Thanks Azen,
but I cannot login server file Octane_Server_VR.
There is Octane_Server_VR and i think there should be Octane_Server file.

hi Azen,
I believe missing "Octane server" ...
there is the "Octane server VR" file but not the "Octane server".
Thank you.

Hi all,

Just a quick update - the Linux tests have gone well thus far (thankfully the issues that were causing the last Linux version to crash completely have now been resolved. I am expecting to update the most current release post with this version soon. In future, we will aim to release all three ports simultaneously, as was done previously.

Bug Reports are being actively pursued, and we will be looking at the next major milestones for Blender development that we can expect in the near future (and in the long term).

Hopefully everybody has been enjoying the latest Blender release overall. We thank you for your time, effort, and patience.

Cheers,
Azen

Great news thanks.

Will the next plugin release include a build with Blender 2.79?

And can you also let us know when ORBX import will be added?

Hi,

I can confirm that Blender will be built with version 2.79 once Octane 3.07 is stable. This new version is still in its testing stage, but should be declared stable very soon. I will need to seek confirmation on ORBX import, but it is a work in progress.
