There's a 20 gpu limit on one license, correct?
Why not let customers be allowed to spread out that 20 gpu to a network? 4 gpus on 5 computers, etc.
If you don't think its fair then limit network render nodes to less than 10.
The limit is "per master" or whatever they call it, so you are only allowed to use 20 no matter how many licenses you got. You can pony up for 100 licenses, you're still only allowed to use 20 gpus concurrently.

Spreading your rendering power to max supported GPU slaves/multi-nodes from a single multi-slave license will be practical with V3 once we have headless rendering working; that will be when we can offer this to users. Note that we have to authenticate differently than current slave/SE system which is a totally independent license; it doesn't need the master to be on the same SSO to authenticate . Headless rendering means we have to authenticate remote nodes from a linked SSO master, which will allow this kind of system.

Not properly, you can use c4d Team Render to spread your frames to 5 Master nodes with 20 GPUs each.

This is also a much more efficient way to use 100 GPUs for animation render jobs.

But that requires that many Standalone Licenses + that many Plugin Licenses for each node/machine so price increases even more drastically comparing to other solutions since on already expensive StandAlone license there is additional cca 150 EUR per node for plugin(s) ???.

Hi Lewis,
We do not need plugins installed on the slave nodes for networkrendering... Or are you making another point?

Can you explain further?
How many and which type of licenses does that need?
5 combo license installed on each computer?
C4d team render will distribute each frame per gpu on each computer so you have 100 frames render at the same time on that 100 gpu setup, Or each frame renders per 20 gpu on each computer so you render 5 frames at the same time on that 100 gpu setup?

Greetz,
to use LWSNII network rendering you need plugin also (so you need Combo license for each slave in that case) at every slave.

Hi geo_n,
it depends on how many GPUs there are on each slave.
Let's make an example:
With three of 7x GPUs smicha machines you can have 20 GPU for Octane and one for the Master display; for this setup you need one Combo Standalone + Plugin license and 2 Standalone license every three nodes.
Let's say that we have 5 Masters, we need 5 Combo and 10 Standalone license for a total of 100 GPUs.
C4D Team Render will spread your frame to 5 Master machines, while the Masters will spread their rendering to 20 GPUs.
Happy rendering,
ciao beppe

Thanks beppe for mentioning me - I am working on a 20 GPU monster :ugeek:
