hello karba, I write to let you know a problem I'm having, when I activate the render region, render times grow exponentially, something that did not happen with 2.0 or 2.01, I'm not sure it's a bug or error in my scene, anyone else have this problem?

Karba, please contact Autodesk for help. Hair is an important feature... I'm sure you will make it work soon ;)

Is there a benchmark scene that can be tested like the gribble benchmark? I'm testing the 3dmax octane demo. Thanks.

Since it's not beta, then I expect features to work as advertised. And I also expect that I don't have to act like a beta tester anymore.

I usually start looking for other alternatives when a developer doesn't want to have an open dialog with it's customers. (same thing as with Autodesk lately.)
But Octane has so much potential.
It is none of my business if Karba has skills or not. It is his job to contact Autodesk and to get help/docs for the sdk. If other engines can do it, then it is possible. I do understand, that it is tricky and requires more effort than other features. But nobody said it has to be easy. By taking our money he took the responsibility.

If you a taking about other engines, why don't you use iRay, or VRay RT. They don't support hairs at all :).

criko3d wrote:I totally agree with Suvakas, it is totally nonsense that this software is being sold as a "final" when it is still a very beta one, i had so much troubles working with it, i can be confident to say that this is not production ready at all, am a customer since version beta xx, but now after nearly 5 years i feel totally dissapointed i dont know if the Autodesk influence is getting stronger in Otoy, selling beta products as final (example 3ds max and the neverending bug fixes as features) honestly, i think this software has a great potential, i just changed to corona render and i find it awesome and the way they are developing it and how is oriented, and for sure corona is production ready, depsite the fact that is a clearly said BETA. am really upset to be honest about this way of making business.
This topic is about octane plugin 2.02 for 3dsmax,
not about ways of making business. Ok?

If you have some certain wishes or bug reports, go ahead.

Otherwise all offtopics may and will be deleted.

It depends on region size. If region size is too small, gpu can't split the job between cores effectively enough.

What exactly do you need?

Separate tip and root colors is not supported by octane itself, it is not plugin fault.

Regarding all other feature - it depends on how fast Autodesk will provide me with proper info. I don't have any psychic power.

I hope it is clear. To be honest, it becomes too annoying to excuses to every user and explain why it is so.

If somebody can't live without hairs, use Ornatrix or Hair Farm. This is not an advertisement. But they have provided me with perfect hair api just in a wink.

Hi

Have you installed the latest video drivers?
And what does error log say?
Can't you render only this scene, or any?
