Re: OctaneRender™ for Blender 1.55 - 4.10 beta Win [TEST]

I would like to render my blender animation (5000 frames) in Octane Render 2.04 standalone.

I have made an animation in Blender where objects fade in via Object DATA > General visibility
everything works fine in Octane Blender, but when I export the animation via alembic to Octane Render 2.04 standalone for rendering, every object is always visible in the animation.

So my question is that is there a way to animate object transparency in Blender so that Octane Render Standalone 2.0 alembic would recognize the Transparency animation fade in from 0 > 1.

- Animate object transparency in Blender from 0.0 > 1.0 so that Octane render standalone 2.04 would understand it. is it possible?
- Does alembic support transparency animation (fade in).

If anyone knows how to animate transparency in blender so that Standalone alembic supports it I would appreciate some help. Thanks

2Ide, I usually use compositing for this.

UPD: If you try web search like "alembic visibility", you'll find that there are lots of issue reports, so it seems that it is alembic's issue.

I think vis_general is not transferred via alembic.abc or I just don’t know how to get it to work.
Camera visibility could connect to alembicVisibility Boolean function even that would be nice.

Ok, I’m just thinking out loud. Just have to render it with Octane Blender :|

Thanks for helping me out aLeXXtoR

You may excuse my lack of knowledge, but how exactly do you guys export from Blender to Alembic?

My search for Alembic exporters ended in 3 year old test builds (2.60) on graphicall or some other, rather old mentions to possibly use it as point cache in the future.

Do you compile you own Alembic exporter builds? Is there an addon I don't know of?

The reason I'm asking is simple: At the moment I cannot use/test Octane 2.0 standalone's motion blur feature. The 2.0 Blender addon isn't released and OBJ exports no animation data.

Sorry for the off-topic question.

LOL :D

Altough i feel a bit dump now, the excitement for the new discovery overwhelms :)

To my excuse: on my screen-setup the "Export alembic" string was shortned to "Export ..." ;)

anyways, thanks for the quick answer!

Hello!

Just interested in a little status report. How is it coming along with the Maya plugin? Are we Blender users waiting days, weeks or months for the 2.0 plugin? Just nice to know so I don´t have to get my pulse up and break a sweat every time I come here to see if anything happened...

Cheers!

I think Jim is planning to release it when blender 2.72 is out which should be in 2-3 weeks.
