Here are the settings for Carrara export to Octane.
1. Select the Scene under the Instance menu
2. Use Save As and select WaveFront OBJ
use the settings shown below, will collect your textures and convert Procedural Shaders.
This will also maintain the morphs and character pose.
Be sure to set anything you don't want in the scene to invisible or it will be exported

FYI: I don't think that Carrara exports image textures properly (at least in version 7). You have to modify the MTL file and add the image textures manually.
I haven't loaded version 8 yet, so I don't know if that version has fixed the issue.

These were the settings for Carrara 8, no editing of MTL file necessary, Carrara will load all the materials inplace, however for higher texture detail you can set the resolution to 512 or more depending on complexity of your scene and Video card memory (I used a laptop so limited memory).

Any Modo users on here?
Someone got any ideas on how to export smooth Modo Sub-Ds into Octane? (And I don't mean freezing surfaces as a high-poly mesh).

Re the post Carrara 7/8 et al and export to octane.
There are imho some issues with exporting materials from Carrara.
If the Carrara material is a "multiplied" diffuse texture that is colour and map, from my experience, it will not make a kd map reference in the mtl. ie you have to add them manually, as mentioned above, or as below. Certainly you can use the "bake" function, that is convert procedurals to texture as per Tugpsx, but if you want the original tex map size(s), ensure that the shader diffuse is only a single material ie get rid of the multiply function if poss.. and then the mtl file will reference the original diffuse map. Use the settings as per, but not convert procedurals and you will get a heap of maps in the folder where the obj and mtl are and they should be referenced.
I use this mostly when I need really large maps ie greater than 2048x for close ups of say, face skin. Using convert to proc.. at 2048x will do it, but it will be slow and convert all the maps for the obj to 2048x which may not be what you want.

Here some videos about using Octane with Carrara. Note that in the second video theres a problem with my image resize software that change the extension from JPEG to JPG so I need to show how to fix this in the MTL file.
The larger version of those videos can be downloaded in Megaupload with the link in my forum.
I'm blender user and I'm thinking about buying octane.
Where can I find script used on this film (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27aAXMCcS7s). Is this script added to full version?
