I suppose you mean the diffuse material of the ground, that I want to have transparant? I simply assigned a diffuse material to it, but only the standard settings show up.

No matte.

Are you sure you are using 1.01 or 1.02?
it should be right there on the bottom.
Edit: In your post, it says you are using 1.0. You need 1.01 or 1.02 which was just released.

I just downloaded it, came from 2.58e and thought that 1.00 was the latest!

I purposedly bought 4 x 580s, to reduce the rendertime when using a big hdr. Importance sampling is crazy!!
