very nice rendering. How did you get rid of the grainyness with the water?
Basically i rendered at 2x the resolution and left it for the night to render. Although, my GTS250 is not that fast so on a GTX 470-480 it would take much much less time to render.

Hello,
was a day like many others, including baby food and diapers for my little one (I'm do a father mom thanks to the crisis of work ...), when by the suggestion of a friend I read about of contest.
i downloaded the demo and the adventure begins.
Mumble mumble mumble .... what to do??
The idea should be simple to develop but at the same time must be captivating.
I know !!!!!!!!!!!! Risiko!
Pure strategy to show that this program has more potential than others in the same sector.

I don't know if there is a slang expression like italian "l'appetito vien mangiando", the meaning is that when you eat something of very good would never stop) but for me it was so: P
So I decided to also develop the animation.
Said ... did ... not really: P

I have long struggled with problems between actual workflow of Lw to export for Octane demo.
I animated as usual objects on separate layers, i thought to export the animation files ... IMPOSSIBLE! : P
For this workflow I must to convert each frame of animation (over 500 frames!).
I merged each object of every frame into a single object to export a single obj file, a titanic challenge!
To increase the difficulty, the trial version not allows you to save images, then i must grab and cut each frame.
I hope all the effort for this project is appreciated: P and that in the next beta will be implemented collada format to allow users to work better.

In any case, thanks the excellent image quality achieved with this program, I can say the effort was rewarded achievement.

P.S. I'm still finishing render and crop images, hoping to finish in time for the deadline: P
models and textures were produced by me

nice work, love the strategy game board, very realistic.
At this point participating in the animation competition without a commercial license is quite a difficult/nearly impossible task.
(some people have made small animations by screengrabs etc... but usually they were only 30 or so frames)

thanks Radiance :)
I'm glad that images like them:)
I was impressed by the program and tried to pay him homage by engaging in the contest .... Obviously the prizes enticed me: P

very nice, do you know about the supersampling technique to get smoother lines (AA) ?
it's explained here: http://www.refractivesoftware.com/forum ... f=21&t=878

Gmod, the brick size in the pillars makes the scale weird. you should check that out. It's going to improve the balance of the image.

Hi guys,

I think, since we're prolongueing animation the competition for another week, would'nt it be simpler if we also prolongue the still competition ?
Just to keep it simple, and we can do all the judging etc together (as it all takes quite a bit of time coordinating, arranging the judges in an online chat session etc...)

what do people think of this ?
