Sorry - scaling issue. My bad. Got it working.
The only thing - and I'm sure it's something I'm doing is : More fireflies than in the standalone. The scene is not exactly the same - are reflective materials worse for this effect? Any other pointers?
Thanks
James

Any ideas why I am receiving this message?

Have you copied all files as it's explained in install.txt

CRASH!!!
if you try to render at 3000x2143 pixel and then you stop it pressing the "cancel" button, Max will crash.
Max 2012Sp2 Windows 7 64 24GB
at 1000x714....is ok
at 2000x1429....is ok
at 3000x2143...CRASH!!!
memory gpu1 2432MB (monitor connected)
memory gpu2 2003MB
memory gpu3 2003MB
memory gpu4 2003MB
4 GTX580 3GB each
Edit:
with one single gpu Max don't crash...I will test with 2 and 3 gpus...

With Octane standalone the same scene was renderized a 7000x5000 without problems
I will check it.

I thought I read somewhere that you would beable to export an Octane Project File .ocs from 3dsmax, to open in the standalone? Cannot find an export or save option for ocs? Amazing Product. Great Job!
