I would love to see procedural maps, like noise, supported for displacement. That would be fantastic.

Yep, I agree

And I'd like to have more procedural maps like leather, scratchs (as for simulating steel) and so on

I know this may not be relevant in this thread but do we expect to see Octane being available to all platforms just buy purchasing standalone+plugin which RedShift3D and Arnold are doing?

Is there a way you (OTOY) could make projection node work with displacements also and not just for models with UV maps ? I often need to displace some models which don't have UVs (or dont' have good UVs exported) and Cubic/Box projection would be enough but projection node supported by regular shading/textures is not working with Displacements :(:

Thanks

For $20 month you get Octane SA + plugin of your choice on win/mac/linux (Unity will be free BTW).

The feature I want most is to be able to move around in a scene with strafing, but mostly being able to move forward physically in a scene without zooming, since zooming and changing position aren't the same thing.

Maybe some day you can add node for materials with name "Write" that will write texture to hdd? Having this we can do more procedural works and avoid limits like we have now with displacement. As example we can take texture, do inverts and color correct then put on Write and read it with Displacement (that not accept any combination of nodes only Texture)
