what if octane worked before a reboot and stopped working after a reboot (rebooted 'cause octane crashed, leaving flickering pixels dust overall the monitor)? Nothing changed except adobe reader update

Hi all,
Maybe a little solution in some cases.
I have tested a demo version in 64bits on another computer with Windows 7 64bits. Octane crashed all the time excepted the first time i tested it after installation with administrator privileges. Then i have tried to run it as administrator and it work fine now. If i remove administration privileges in compatibility tab of my link, it crashes again...
It's probably not the only solution for all problems but it works for me.
Hope this will help someone.

Running it as admin did the trick. Wonder why it happened randomly tho'...

Ok this is odd.
I just ran the program as normal and it crashed.
I then ran it in XP SP2 compatibility mode and it worked..i then turned off XP SP2 compatibility mode and now it works all the time.
That doesn't make much sense now does it?
If anyone has an idea of why this happened, please feel free to enlighten me...im confused
But anyway...now it works

@Radiance
Can you see any reason why using XP compatibility mode fixes this problem?
It seems as long as XP compatibility mode is on for the initial startup of the program it will work perfectly (even if i uncheck it) until the next reboot of the pc.
Any ideas?

i don't have a clue.
drivers is the only thing i can think about.
maybe try the driver sweeper tool and reinstall the latest drivers or something?

same problem here.
The thing is, when I first tested it I had a couple of this, but I had not installed the cuda drivers, later I tried with scene A, wich worked fine, althou it crashed a couple of times, now I'm trying it with an old scene, not too big of an interior rendering (actually the obj is the same size, about 29Mb), and it's crashing big time, it goes all the way to import the geometry, and as soon as I select the mesh it goes away without a friendly advice.
While I was writting I've updated the mesh, selecting only a few and exporting works, when i add the rest, it crashes
Don't know if ti helps, I'll keep on testing with this scene.

you need to apply the registry fix here:
http://www.refractivesoftware.com/forum ... f=21&t=824
also install the latest WHQL drivers for your OS/card from the nvidia site.
octane is very stable, so these issues are hardware/OS/driver related.
