It is important to note the distinction between System and Display units. Display units only affect how geometry is displayed in the viewports.
System units determine the actual scale of geometry.

thanks
yes we know about system and display units. But it is ok to set 1 unit to inches, centimeters in system units besides the meters. I just want to make sure octane will treat it what ever it is set to.
Hi coilbook,
in your case, you could set 1 = 1 meter and then set inches in the display unit.
But if you do not find big issues in your scene, leave 1 = 1 inches as you have now.
Next projects try to use 1 = 1 Meter.

Thank you. Hopefully 1 unit as 1 inch is ok. All of our models are rigged and already designed in inches. Usually if we do large scenes we use meters, small upclose scenes we use inches or centimeters. I really thought render engines adapt to the scene units you set as long as you keep objects the right size

..soooo I think I have been using octane wrong since 2010
.. ok, so always use system units as 1
- also autodesk help says "Do not change the system unit in an existing scene." - didn't know that .. cool, another 8 years and I'll learn all the basics :)

:/

- Ok just to confirm - always use system units 1 = 1m

Hi coilbook,
could you check if your material vrays have something as mentioned here?
I sent these issues to developers to solve them.

Hi Elvissuperstar007,
you should use baking texture node in displacement texture node.
