How well will Octane perform on OpenCL? I'm planning on building a PC soon and I'm not sure if I want to buy a Nvidia GPU if I can grab an AMD one.

Yeah thanks Marcus, all too often we users are left in the dark about upcoming developments by other companies that shall remain nameless, or alternatively shown shining tech demos of features that still fail to materialise months or even years later.
On a note not too distantly related, are we skipping 2.25 and going straight to 3.0 ? Inquiring minds want to know...

Any idea how well Mac Pro 2013 with dual D700 might perform using Octane 3 openCL?

I don't think that opencl will be available in the first 3.0 release.
I hope that the Cuda kernel will be faster using PT or PMC and will be resolved the noise issue caused by ies lights.
Also I hope that the new kernels will support native lights of the host program, target lights for example.
I'm testing iRay+ and all my requests are already there. No noise using multiple ies lights, they have sharp focus.
For archviz renders this is crucial for me.

Alpha before Thanksgiving = best possible release time, for what should be obvious reasons...

As a non-american, why is that?

As an American, I wonder why too...
