Your mac usually not knows your pc card - vendor and device id - plus Snow Leopard has no good Fermi support. There are a package from nvidia but most of the pc cards freeze with it. Lion is a bit better choice but in most cases you must edit the kext file - add device id. If you found a solution to add power for the card try with a GTX295.

Looks like GTX 580 3 GB PC card does work some how on Mac Pro under OSX Lion 10.7.2 with ATY netkas patches. The guy test octane render and it works.

Well, we are in 2012.
The Nvidia GeForce GTX 285 mac edition desappeared.
None sell it anymore.

On the Nvidia website there' re only quattro.

Does it work with Octane ?
Is anybody could suggest what i have to get ?

MacPro Intel 2x2,26 ghz 32GoRam 2xGT120 MacOSX 10.6.8 and hope Octane Render...

i can confirm that a zotac GTX580 3gb works in a 2010 mac pro with 10.7.4 it needs just the newest nvidia drivers.
i use it above the original ati with an external psu. the wires going in in the top pci slot.

octane demo does work too, it is very fast
