After paying over £500 for this software is it likely I'm going to do that?

Apart from you, who else is happy? A beta that's over two years old and a v2 release that can't render animation is not a place of happiness except for those who enjoy suffering.

Aren't we all when we want to lend some legitimacy to an opinion.
Hydra wrote:I, and others, have told you that working with badly documented software which is randomly released and updated is hard.
The Carrara plugin developer managed it and you're the only one here blaming DAZ.
Hydra wrote:Are you truly comparing Daz to Sony?
I'm pointing out the illogicality of blaming company Y for problems with the development of company X's software.
Hydra wrote:Anyways, I distinctly recall a pop up asking me if I really really wanted Octane Beta software. I said yes.
I don't remember ticking a box that agreed to broken promises and little or no communication from the developer.

I am not happy. I am in over $1000 in with multiple licenses and don't have anything i can actually use.

I would venture to say that no one here is happy, because if they are, they likely have just joined us by recently purchasing the software (and haven't been waiting over a year or so), or
they are the developer of this plugin.

We can conjecture, speculate, and assume quite a bit, as we have been in this thread -- it's all that is left for us to do, since the maintainers of the OcDS software remain silent or extremely crytpic.

The fact remains: WE HAVE NOT A STABLE PLUGIN WE PAID FOR IN THE YEARS WE HAVE WAITED.
You can formulate excuses and reasons all you like, but that doesn't help produce a plugin, and it will enrage most people here, because we know it is simply untrue.

You can state that Daz is slow, poorly documented, unwilling to partner, secretly planning Iray, working closer with nVidia... None of this matters, because of one simple fact:
OTHERS HAVE CREATED STABLE PLUGINS FOR THE SAME SOFTWARE IN LESS TIME.

So, give us your excuses all you like, and waste everyone's time.
It's really all that goes on here, lately, because of a PATHETIC LACK OF SOFTWARE UPDATES.

MORE SOLUTIONS, LESS EXCUSES! :x

No need to waste your time posting here unless that's really what you'd like to do.

It's exactly like talking to a wall these days.

All that's being expressed is redundant, pointless and not making anyone feel at ease.

It would make a world of difference if the OcDS plugin was free, so next stage is TORCHES and PITCHFORKS!

Nostradamus predicts this plugin will be released with Daz3D Studio Pro 5.0 and only if pigs fly!

There! That's as good as all the answers previously posted. Full of everything, but an update.

I am just shocked that Otoy lets this go on. and on. and on.

I think we all just need an outlet to vent our frustrations with the plugin.

I'm resigned to waiting until DS 4.8 is released before the plugin appears but it does grate when this situation is laid at the door of DAZ as if it has nothing to do with the developers or OTOY themselves. It's that kind of "look over there, not over here" tactic that unnecessarily rubs salt into the wound. It's unnecessary because we've already aired our concerns as has t_3 in the recent past and so my approach since then has been to let it lie but when I read these revisionist versions of events blaming DAZ I find it very difficult not to respond. There are lots of things DAZ don't get right but partnering with NVidia is not one of them. And I say that as someone heavily invested (for my budget) in OTOY (2 x DS plugin licenses and 1 x Carrara license.)

I'm not blind to the technical and business decisions OTOY faces. However, my pet peeves have always been lack of communication and false promises. That alone can shift the mood and confidence of investors and customers alike. Personally, I'm not interested in details that don't lead to solutions.
