It is really great to have an updated version so close to the intital launch of 3.0, so I am thankful for that. I know this is a test version. It is 1am here and I have work in a few hours. I shall return
It's too late for me to write up a bunch of steps and make new test scenes but I am regularly having issues with the plugin recognizing geometry updates. I tend to pause the renderer while I make most of my geometry updates and reenable rendering once things are in postion. However OcDS is not respecting the changes
and I am forced to use the rebuild button which is pretty heavy handed approach.*workaround found
I have also noticed many times now that the renderer will keep the timer counting, as if it is rendering but no new samples are being added and no visual updates in the preview. I accidently waited for this to finish, and when it hit the max sample number suddenly the render updated in it's final state! So I guess the preview is not updating and the render is really happening behind the scenes.
EDIT: SOme quick testing shows that pausing the render, making updates and unpausing make it possible to reproduce the issue. If I leave the render unpaused and make changes the renderer is working fine. So it is easy to workaround.

Hi there,
Got the update for the Standalone / plugin yesterday...
All seem to work before i saw a bug when i load a old work from the last year. Impossible to load the viewport and i have that :
DAZStudio.exe caused ACCESS_VIOLATION in module "C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\octane.dll" at 0033:0000000013D8EE62,
Octane::ApiNode::destinationNodes()+274 byte(s)
RAX=0000000013E29AC0 RBX=0000000014B956F8
RCX=000000000029D2D4 RDX=0000000000000000
RSI=0000000055154180 RDI=0000000000000000

Using DazStudio 4.8 ( the last before the 4.9).

So the pause issue is not isolated to geometry updates, but also material updates.
STR:
Pause render
Update materials, invert maps, change bump etc (or geometry changes, or even change the render resolution)
Unpause
ER: Render restarts with updates reflected
AR: Render resumes ignoring changes made while render was paused.

Would it be possible to set my the .duf pls?

I can reproduce this problem. The truely annoying thing is that is /doesn't/ happen when I debug the plugin in Visual Studio, so it seems to be some sort of timing issue. I will keep investigating.
What exact version of DAZStudio are you using pls?

I updated my footer to say 4.8.0.59
For the most part, seems good though. Need more time to test

But overall feeling good.

This appears to be an issue in Octane - and I have reported it to Otoy, who will investigate. It appears after you reload all the meshes once, from then on you can pause/resume with issue. The Octane 2.25 version of the plugin does not have this issue.

Hmmm... I paid for a standalone, a Poser and a Studio... and I don't see anything special yet either.
Not only is it confusing to dumb buggers like me what to download with a V2.xxx.xxx.xx filename and version number attached, but if it don't say V3.something, after parting with all that moneys, then I'm wondering WTF.
Perhaps OTOY should have left the release 'til when they had a real V3 to release and not make us all guess, work on old versions and get utterly confused.
It would be nice if they took our money and then sent us direct links to download what we just purchased or upgraded to.
Instead we spend hours in the forums finding out from other confused people what to get, when and what combination of old out dated software to download because we weren't informed of upgrade.
If it's too hard to use, nobody will use it. What a Mickey Mouse affair so far.
Ok, finished now... rant over.

The title of this thread is "OctaneRender for DAZ Studio 3.00" so I would hope that is a good enough indication that it's Octane 3.00. Does you account page show your licenses are valid for Octane 3.0? If so, then you are set and can use the current Poser and DAZStudio plugins from the 3.00 TEST threads. If not, then email Otoy support and they will sort it out.

Oh so it's only the Standalone that has moved to a final V3 and not the plugins because this forum says "TEST"...so I would hope that is a good enough indication that it's Octane 3.00
Snarky eh!. Does you account page show your licenses are valid for Octane 3.0?
Hard to work out... the site is not the easiest to get around, but if I click around long enough I might find something If so, then you are set and can use the current Poser and DAZStudio plugins from the 3.00 TEST threads. If not, then email Otoy support and they will sort it out.
Hell no, I'd be dead before I get an answer from them, even if they are in te same country, communication is non-existant
Paul
But...
Thanks for your help Paul....
