Btw. have a feature request. I had asked for this before using slider control but I think there is a better approach which should be more intuitive for us. Can you add a 'Octane Sun' (basically a distant light named 'Octane Sun') to a scene automatically and use its position to control the position of the Sun in Octane (Day light Environment) ? That would make it very intuitive for us to position the sun as we want it. We would select the 'Octane Sun' as the camera to position the sun as we would like it.
This is a good idea - and similar to how the Poser plugin works. It would however be a difficult thing to implement in the DAZStudio plugin.

I have updated the installers at the top of this thread with:

3.7.0.35
- Compiled with Octane 3.07 TEST 4. See viewtopic.php?f=33&t=62636 for details.
- Added Baking Texture node as per Octane 3.07
- Added UVW Transform node as per Octane 3.07
- Added Instance Color and Instance Range nodes as per Octane 3.07
- Added an instance id to each Scatter transform (ie. each instance will now have a unique instance id). The new Texture node types Instance Range and Instance Color can be used with these id's. Refer to viewtopic.php?f=33&t=62395 for for details.

I had to go back to 3.6.4.34 - found some problems with the new version:

- I couldn't change a HDR-File (environment)... whenever I tried to load an old DAZ/octane-scene and tried to change the lightsetting/HDRI it wasn't possible.
- same problems with some maps/textures/displacement settings. I couldn't change the maps at all after loading and in some cases DS crashed.
- octane didn't recocgnize some new items in the scene esp. geoshells and their textures.

Thanks Paul. Will give it a try and report back.

Paul, is there any way you can expose the Sun settings so that it could be updated from the DAZ Script or is this already possible ? I am doing some experiment on how I can do this via DAZ Script or a plugin DLL. Adding light and hooking it for gimbal movement etc is not difficult. Only thing is that final update to the Octane Sun settings.

Yes - I am seeing some of these issues - particularly when there is not a figure in the scene (ie. only props). There is an Octane API issue related to this which Otoy are fixing in the next release, so I suggest waiting for the next DAZStudio plugin release, and then re-test the above issues, and if you are still having problems let me know.

There is not currently any way of having DAZ Script interact with the plugin, so I don't think this was be possible at the moment.

Same here... I had to roll back to 3.6.4.34. the new test version (3.7.0.35) is just too unstable to work on projects at this point. Hitting the "Rebuild Scene" button while there is at least 1 figure on scene will always cause "Render Engine Failure" error. I can't remember exactly what the error messages in the log were saying but they are something containing these lines: "Illegal memory access", "could not upload texture files" or whatever it was.

Also the max slider value for certain things like texture maps (Diffuse, Bump, Spec) appear to be set to 2 by default, moving the dial slightly will snap the max value to 1, but if you change something else it will snap back to 2.
- I couldn't change a HDR-File (environment)... whenever I tried to load an old DAZ/octane-scene and tried to change the lightsetting/HDRI it wasn't possible.
Did the HDRI not appear after you have selected it? I had the same problem and found a solution that worked , try moving the texture's slider value ( the new slider right below the texture dropdown box, not the 'Power' slider) to zero and then back to max, this appears to force the plugin to refresh and the HDRI file should then be loaded.
- same problems with some maps/textures/displacement settings. I couldn't change the maps at all after loading and in some cases DS crashed.
I had encountered this as well, the fix is the same as the HDRI fix above. Haven't experienced any crashes though.

I have updated the TEST release installer at the top of this thread with:

3.7.0.36
- Compiled with Octane 3.07 TEST 6

If you have previously installed 3.7.0.35, pls update to the above release ASAP as it fixes some Cuda errors.

Thank you - but changing the HDR-file still doesn't work in the new version. :-(

I confirm the same.
