is there a reason for a long octane viewport scene evaluation times? is it a bug?
It takes 1 min 15 sec to open octane viewport (Process geometry) but it only takes 30 seconds to process geometry when render button is pressed.
Thanks
Hi coilbook,
I think this is new Octane scene Persistency feature.
Is it actived?

Dear Developers,
Thank you for this update!
I've got two issues:
1. When rendering region in in Octane Render Viewport, everything around region is clearing to black. This is different than any previous behaviours.
Can we have it back? Cause now we can't re-render only part of image keeping the rest of image, can't compare, etc....
2. Ligting in Material Editor looks overblown.

Hi senorpablo,
you can set Mat. preview W/H until 4092x4092 in Kernel panel; to update you have to click on "show shaded material in viewport".

Thanks. But, why does Otoy always re-invent the wheel? There is already a persistent setting in Max for the viewports. Configure Viewports->Display Performance->Viewport Images and Textures Display Resolution.

Hi kcpr-raffaE,
-1 SDK has two region render option:
A) Film Region Picker tool allows users to specify a region in the scene to set new values for Region Start and Region Size for Film Settings parameters which configures the render film. Although the resolution will remain the same, the film region is the only part that is rendered. Users may reset the film region back to its full size by double-clicking on the render viewport while the toggle is enabled.
B) Render Region Picker tool allows users to specify a region in the viewport. This assists in viewing changes quickly and also allows more control to reduce noise in specific areas. To use Render Region Picking, click on the icon located under the Render Viewport. Rectangular areas can now be selected in the viewport to which the rendering will be restricted. A feathered border is placed around the selected area. To disable this feature and return to rendering the whole image, click once anywhere in the viewport. The samples rendered in this region are taken into account in the samples per pixel statistics of the viewport. This represents the average samples per pixel over the full image.
All Octane plugin shall take this this approach; Octane for 3dsMAx will include Render Region Picker in the future version.

Octane render motion blur don't work with Octane proxies, I need to convert back to polys.

Dear Paride,
To be sure we understand each other, I'm attaching screenshots:
OC4 RC4 and earlier - Region Render doesn't clear all around:
versus
OC4 RC6 - every time Region Renders is enabled or changed/moved it clears everything around:
We need older functionality back

OK I'm with kcpr-raffaEl
..the previous functionality of render region is a must for me as well, it became part of my workflow, where I can re render the whole thing, making everything black around it also give different sense of contrast this will add to potential confusion in workflow for sure

Anyone else experiencing HORRIBLE weird viewport issues in 3dsmax with RC 6 6.08 ? It looks like my computer took acid. All my texture maps are gone and I am looking and pinks and purples instead.

3dsmax viewport and material editor are completly broken in this version (as motion blur with proxies )
But I must admit that octane masters lights ! ( 500 tiny lights with no fear )
