Hey,
Thanks for the update, really looking forward to exploring the new features!
Echoing a similar sentiment to those metnioning FumeFX in Max, as a Cinema 4d user, would be awesome to render TurbulenceFD simlations as volumes. Hope this is on you guy's to-do list!
Thanks for the awesome software. Excited about the release of v3!

Thanks ... nice to have the update. I alwo wonder about OpenCL ... or rather: Is this just a translation layer (as a CUDA one may be) or is CUDA nested deep into the code and there's a lot to do to make OpenCL work?

Yup its the only thing preventing me from using it on our product renders here. Don't have time to go re-topo a ton of cad or add a ton of geo with fillets. The meshes are already very dense.
Broken feature hope it gets attention sooner than later.
Other than that 3.0 looks amazing good work guys.
Yes, i also really would love a fixed Rounded Edge shader. It's very important for CAD renderings i do, and i miss it dearly from VRAY.

I don׳t feel OTOY going to approach it, it׳s indeed important for some people. A lot of my colleagues not using Octane just because this future is missing. It׳s important from CAD rendering, for Genral Motion graphics boolean operation, etc etc...
Wish you will address this issue.

Thanks a lot for the replies. I'm sorry that we couldn't answer all your questions, but currently we are 100% focused on getting v3 out as soon as possible and just don't have time to do much on the forum right now. This will change again in the near future. As an alternative I just want to give a small update to the update:
Over the last couple of weeks, the code base has matured quite a bit and we had 2 SDK test releases out for the plugin devs. There are still two outstanding issues we want to have sorted until the first alpha release: One is net render support for PMC and the other one is net render support for deep image rendering. We hope to have the work on them finished in the coming week. And we will probably fix lots more bugs, too.
Region rendering will still be broken in the initial release, but I hope bringing it back will take only 1-2 weeks. Texture baking will most likely not be in the initial release, but will follow soon after that. The same applies to the removal of the limit of the number of primitives and the save+resume feature. In other words, I expect to have regular development releases again after the first alpha came out.
From what I have heard there will also be an announcement about licenses and GPU limits etc. soon.

Thanks for the update. I am most excited to hear about performance on amd gpu's. Im currently using an iMac with a gtx 780 card but I have been debating building a custom pc for octane. If performance is great on the d700's I may just stick with the Mac Pro (when it's updated).
