I readed the PDF and that gave me ideas, thanks ;)
The markers are great feature.
Also the lighting room is good.
But there's no subsurface bar and markers are not quite the same thing.
Subsurface bar change size when the IOR change. The markers does but not by much.

Ill try to not copy everything
But that's indeed a good material ball.

Oh my god bubbles (just to see that everyone works)

How do you manage to do UV if there's bubbles inside the solid :?
Im currently making a sweet subsurface bar.

(edit: currently going to sleep )
Great you got some ideas from it Sam ;)

I Won´t lay out any UV`s for the bubbles, only for the rest of the mesh. Bubbles will only be visible when you use a transparent material anyways. In general transperant materials dont need UV`s as they usally dont have any textures. It wont be a problem ;)
I made a light room like that yesterday that we can place your nice material ball in if you like. When both Maxwell and Thea uses it i think it is a good choice. I will test my light room in a unbiased render (with mesh emitters) today and post results.

sorry guys, but i've been very busy coding and there's now heaps of posts everywhere with this ball.

is it finished ?
if it is, can someone send me the final version ? as a obj+mtl ?

so i can clean it up and add it to octane ?

i need the object, without the 'nose',
on a slope floor (like chsphere: http://images.google.be/images?q=cgsphe ... =nl&tab=wi)

the inside ball and footpiece need to be a lightgrey plastic.

i think the scene is good but:

- lose the 'nose', it makes it look a bit silly
- the footpiece (eg cylinder that's on the floor) it too wide. maybe remove the outer rim and reduce the outer rim diameter of the grey piece of plastic.

the current dimensions are a bit off,
the support/footpiece is too large.
