I have made spheres in Maya and tried to export the scene to Octane renderer but always fail. After the scene is sent Octane Render, the loading screen appear and then gets inside the program but it hangs from there. I tried to export the OBJ file first and load it in Octane, but once it starts loading the file, the Octane render hangs there. Have you encountered such issue before? I am using Maya 2012 under Win7 Professional 64bit...

I successfully made an animation in Maya 2012 and octane for my work.
rendered cloth animation and more.
i use mac osx..

I have just tried with Maya creating some polygons, it works if they are all polygons but it hang when I created any surfaces...Is that normal? or is there any settings I have missed to set? Does anyone have similar issues?

Surfaces = nurbs?
Octane can only render polygon meshes...

Hi there,

first let me thank you for your great work, bazuka.

I have tried your exporter (latest version of exporter und octane) yesterday with Maya 2012 64-bit on Windows 7 64-bit.
When I hit render I get that crazy error:

----- meshnode for rendering "test.obj " not useable ----

but when I click on mesh node again it starts render. I can live with that.

But my objects are not smoothed, regardless the smooth option in exporter and the materials do not have correct colors.
Am I missing something here? Thank you for your help.

Maya 2012 is not render the animation. When I want to render any frame of animation, the timeline on the constantly changing frame number one and start rendering with Octane. When I click the "render animation" animation is not computed. In the timeline change frames, but Octane is not started.
Graphics Card GTX 590.
When i start render in Maya 2011 the same scene - render animation is ok.

Good day,

I having issues with just launching octane from the maya exporter (mac). I have manually added its destination for octane, and yet when I push the render button nothing is happening. I have read through the whole discussion and some people got it working on the mac and I have not yet accomplished that. Any luck on it being something simple?

Do you think anyone can help?

I am using maya2Octane v2.5
