Right now they don't work on OctaneRender Standalone that i, and many many others have bought... they work on something i will probably never use  .

So please... move faster with your new beta software, so you can finish your first beta software :!: .
Hey Lixai,
what are you talking about?
You should read posts carefully before you complain.
The max-plugin is developed along the 2.6 standalone.
radiance wrote: The plugin is developed to accommodate our beta 2.6 branch with the new geometry system once 2.6 it's finished.
We are currently aiming to finish the 2.6 geometry framework and release it around the same time as the first beta program release of the plugin, so chances are big, that the first plugin version will have this new system.
If not, it will definitely follow shortly after in an update.

yah... ok, but all your work power si going right now to make the new plugin, not to finish standalone.
"along" means that you will work on 2 products simultaneously, and that means more problems, more delays... ang guess what... here is a delay right now !

how did you know that? in fact they need to extend octane for max (like implement instancing) and in terms of core functionality, there will be no difference between plugin versions and the standalone - so apart from the host integration, it is still just ongoing octanereder development; nothing else...

& hopefully you won't have this same problem, if rsl starts working on a maya plugin :)

I hope that Andrey Kozlov is working hardly on this pluging from Moscow. He is the only person that can put hands into Max sdk.
Is not simple to develop c++ for Max.
What I can say is that this person developed the best Max plugins.
Octane for Max is in his hands.

Can the standalone render hairs?
When you can answer this question, you can answer yourself...

I'm just grateful that they will be releasing this product, given that it finally provides a practical solution for rendering animation.
Having worked in software start-ups I know how difficult it can be to release things on time.

Now, if Refractive would consider a Christmas discount for all of us loyal beta users I think that would be well received and would help to pave over some of the ill feelings that some have. I don't think that longtime loyal beta users should end up paying a larger total (199 €) for having purchased the product in two parts (standalone + plug-in) than newcomers who only have to pay 174 € for the bundle. We've been in it for the long haul and I for one have highly recommended it to all the Max users I run into.
