Do not activate 3.0.10
3.0.6.18 OK
From 3.0.10 onwards you need to log in using your Otoy account username/password, not your plugin username/password.

Also, I just see that there is on the system tab many information about number of triangles on the scene and especially the "hair" information. Is it to count "octane hair" ?
Is it possible "now" or in the future any way to tell the plugin that fibermesh (use in LAMH) is "octane hair" ?
Adding support for LAMH is on the "todo" list, but it is a major job, so I cannot look at it for a few more months.

This is great news, even if it's a few months off.

Is there some kind of feature list for this new version ? I meanto compare the Plugin 2 with the Version 3 Plugin.
I will add a page to the manual detailing the differences once Octane 3 is out of alpha & beta. Once Octane 3 is out of beta, updates for the Octane 2 version of the plugin will be infrequent (if at all) - so that should be a major consideration when determining if you are going to update or not.

Thanks Paul.
That would be nice.

I am aware of the fact that V2 will not really eing updatet anymore. V2 is mostly stable now after you fixed most of the bugs. And i am still a hobby artist mostly doing just fantasy pictues - no network rendering , no animation etc.
I think i will upgrade anyhow as i do not really care about money when it comes to my hobby but at least it would be fine to have more then just a higher version number in the plugin :)
In my simple configuration i do not expect any quality or performance improvements with V3 so i am looking for features.

Btw. After the prices for V3 Standalone are out - any infos on prices (full / upgrade) for the plugin ?

No word on plugin prices yet, but the upgrade cost for standalone is cheaper this time, the following is from https://home.otoy.com/octanerender-3-an ... ap-update/:
"... OctaneRender 3 will be available May 15th at a price of $399 for new customers, and $49 for customers upgrading from OctaneRender 2.x. More information on the new features of OctaneRender 3 are available here ..."

They link to the old press release from last year, however a lot of the stuff in the press release isn't in or didn't make it into v3, like PTEX, FBX and OpenCL support. That road map url though is much better at showing what's in v3 and what's coming in 3.1).

FYI:
I installed the 3.0.10
Launch DAZ
Got a windows poping up requesting the octane activation.
I mucked up with the credential and entered wrong ones.
it tried to continu loading and got a daz crash

Now each time in run Daz in crash and never propose the activation dialogue box.

Rolled back to 3.0.3.9 I was using and it activate directly and run.

Tried again the last release but it directly crash (showing activating in the lower right loading bar screen of daz) not offering the popup to enter credential
The creds (wrong) must be stored somewhere now and reused each time, do you know where (registry?)

Ciao,
N.

When I need to edit messages containing swearing, that give me less time to actually help them...

Try deleting C:\Users\[USERNAME]\OctaneRender\Data\OctaneRender_settings.oczdb

I've been trying out the new dithering option to improve gradient backgrounds and it works very well.

However when you save as a 8bit png the dithering affect seems to be removed, so I tried saving as a 16bit png and that works, but I just noticed when I open the images in Photoshop they're all 8bit, none of them are 16bit. I tested with standalone (alpha 7 & beta 1) and saving a 16bit png gives you a 16bit image in Photoshop, so maybe the OcDS 16bit save option can replace the (broken?) 8bit save option and a new true 16bit save option can be added?

Sorry about the language, it is not my native and it came out like this, weird way to say I entered the wrong credential my missing attention and that was entirely my fault.

Thanks for your help.

There is a bug in the plugin where it is saving as PNG8 bit when you select to save as PNG 16 bit. I will fix this in the next release.
