Hi Bazuka, is there any chance of getting the script to use a global procedure for the main script, so it can be called from other scripts?
Cheers
:)

Hey Bazooka,

I have Maya 2010 (64 bit) on a windows 7 machine. All the script does is save an obj of the scene in the folder where i specified it for the project path etc. And thats it! I tried moving my installation files (which was first saved on my desktop and then extracted from there) of Octane 2.23v5 to the 'refractive software' folder in the program files folder. As it is left over from the 2.22 version i installed before i installed 2.23v5. Both didnt work.

Do you think i missed something when i downloaded the 2.23 v5 version of Octane? like an older set of files from v4 or something? as all that does is load up Octane straight from where you save it. I would greatly appreciate any help :)

Thanks,

Steve

cheers Bazooka, ive fixed it, think i just pointed the binary path in the wrong path, and so thats why it failed to open Octane.

Hi Bazuka,

How's the development for the plug-in going?
Just curious about the progress of the script development.
Looking forward to render animation from Maya soon.

Best,
Thomas

Hi Bazuka,
Did you try out the scene file I sent you to your email last week as you requested?

Simple scene you tried that worked is a good sign for the exporter. However slightly more complicated scene miht not respond in the same way.
I dont believe we got those old problem nailed down yet sinced discuwsed last time.
Last time as we tested it the scale problem, as well as grouping and visibilities were still unresolved.

Asking to simplify the scene is like asking to overthrow the pipeline for animation that is stable. To simplify the scene also means to break the grouping, he hirarchy, the referencing, which will destroy the scene and thus doesn't make sense.

recently i tried another render app that export the data out of Maya, and it worked out the scale, visibility, etc. I am sure the scene file is okay as it is and there got to be a soluion.

Hi Bazuka,

I'm currently using the plugin for 2010. I'm not sure how different this is on 2011 though is there going to me a different rendering system? What I mean is either a notification with rendering since per frame of rendering it closes "Octane" and re-opens for a new frame. With this I've tired to edit the settings in "Octane" for that frame and when it then re-opens the new "Octane" for the next frame the different settings I set are not there, meaning it goes back to default.

Do I have to set the settings for my images disfuse and other attributes everyframe?
If so I think I'll be here awhile. Only 499 frames to go :/

Cheers,
tharr
