As Calus assumed a while ago,

I'm (re)-doing the part that updates the different maya object types (meshes, subdivs, lights, instancers) to octaneRender.

This will result in the "exporter nodes", which are as well automatically added to the node graph with the toolshelf button.
So no effort is added. :)
The changes are mostly internal (still essential), except for the node front end (displaying some statistics).

Octane seems to have forgotten Maya users.
No dates of nothing; next beta, final version ...
Octane 2.0 is not for Maya 2017 or 2016.5 ...
Do we have to change software to use Octane 3.0?

Be serious. At least then report on the estimated dates

Kai has done a significant amount of re-engineering which was critical for a number of reasons, but most importantly, changes that were essential to support Octane v3. Changes surrounding the node system was especially critical, and will ensure that in future, we can deliver Octane core changes and improvements a lot faster than in previous years. We will also be able to action user requests much faster.

Our current best estimate for a stable v3 release is early to middle next month. We have also ramped up internal testing to ensure we solve all critical issues before releasing any betas.

As always we welcome comments, suggestions and criticisms, because we would like to serve you as best we can. I recommend sending an email to [email protected] if you would like to discuss anything related to the Maya plugin
