I've recently updated to Max 2023.3

When attempting to open the Render Settings of a saved file (that used to render properly) it crashes.

I've also started a new scene, and merged the content of the "defected" scene. resetting it all back will yield that Stack overflow when attempting to add the AOV Output on the render elements.

any idea?
Hi ofirgardy,
Thank you for reporting this issue.
There seems to be a bug when some AOV output are added in the Render elements.
You might also be able to recover your scene this way:
-open the scene
-open Octane viewport (using the context menu in a 3dsmax viewport)
-click the last button (multi-pass selection) and choose 'Export passes selection to Render Elements'
This should cleanup the render elements (this doesn't include the AOV elements)

It seems you can add 1 AOV render element for now, but it might crash again if you add a second one..
Sorry about that.
This will be fixed in the next release, in the coming days.
Thanks

Thanks. Good idea since indeed I was struggling to get the scene back to a workable state and Merging and re-doing the settings all over was tedious.

Hi Carl,
It works fine for me
I tested with RTX 3080 + GTX 1080,
Octane Device Settings dialog showing Driver version: 11.70,
Windows device manager on the RTX3080 showing nvidia Driver version: 31.0.15.1694

Maybe you could try to update / change nvidia driver ?
Also, export your scene to orbx, see if Stand-Alone has the same error (I guess so..)
Then, you should check on the Stand alone forums..

Searching the posts, I only found OptiX API errors with 'Invalid device context' or 'Invalid value', but no 'Invalid data in disk cache' ..
Re-installing the driver could help..

Thanks

Thanks. I updated Nvidia drivers from 526.86 to 526.98, RTX threw up the same error. I rolled back Octane to 2021.1.6 - 12.28 and RTX works as expected for me. I have 3080, 4x 3060ti, 2x 3070. I will try find time to try the other things you suggested. Thanks again.
Hi Carl
Did this ever get fixed or are you still using 2021.1.6 - 12.28

I'm using the latest Octane but am now get optix errors/out of memory when using 2 x 2080ti cards.
What's weird is that if I take one of the out of the PC it will render fine.
