Yes, an Octane Hydra render delegate for Solaris is in development. More details about this project will be released soon.

Thanks for the reply Juanjo. I understand nobody makes that.
Just sad that my perpetual license is now useless. It was good till it lasted.
When I decided to go with perpetual instead of subscription, I didn't realize I was buying a perpetual with expiration date. Kinda defeats the purpose of shelling out a lump sum.

Hopefully Otoy will come up with a better upgrade option than they have now. Anyway, thanks for your help in this, Juanjo. I appreciate it.

You can update your current 4.0 perpetual license to the upcoming Octane 2020.x version getting also a perpetual license:

now we need for the full Houdini experience :
houdini 18
octane for Houdini
octane for hydra.
Right ?


I do not understand the real hydra plugin status.
Is it part of the 2020 release ? I mean...this is ready ? Or this gonna be ready some day ?

Octane for Houdini 18.0 is already available in the current 2019.1.4.0 plugin. The Hydra plugin will come later.

If there are no new Octane 4.0x core builds probably yes, this is going to be the latest Octane 4.0x production build, unless something really critical about a feature used in production is found, and even in this case probably we'll only release a custom build for this user. All our efforts are now related to the Octane 2019.1 plugins support and all the new Octane 2020.1 plugins features
