I did not find any issues under 3dsMax 2014 and Octane Render 3dsMax 4.41.
maybe your issue is because "Area to Render", in Max frame buffer, was set to crop instead of view.

shadow pass

I can find this in octane viewport render pass rollout "shadow pass", but I can't find it in render element .... Anybody ?

Setting the area to 'crop' was causing the problem. You may want to report this to developers as I wouldn't expect it to produce those kinds of artifacts because of that.
But thank you - seems fixed now and rendering correctly
