Hi patrickbarnekow,
I can confirm that the Octane Daylight system is independent from the Sketchup daylight system.
ciao beppe

Hi prehabitat,
only when the plugin will be out from the Beta phase, difficult to say when, but you will be informed when it will have to happen.
Happy GPU Rendering,

Hello Beppe,
Have the new version lost features in this case? Will this feature be included in future versions?
Our company does solar studies all the time, and use SU saved views and octane to render, this is a completely necessary feature for us, and cannot move on to the next version if it is missing.
Regards,

The decoupling between the SketchUp and Octane lighting systems was a side effect of the way the new interface to the Octane node system works. For the initial release, we kept the SU and Octane scenes separate after initial construction, to keep the plugin relatively simple while we developed and tested the new GUI code. This is definitely not intended to be a permanent change! I plan to add connections between the two versions of the scene, such as automatic transfer of material and lighting changes, over the next few releases. Lighting should be one of the first to be updated. I'll try to have it ready for the next test build (which will probably accompany the final release of the 3.07 SDK); if not, it will be a high priority for a subsequent release.

Hello all, sorry for repeat the same.
But without the ability to peak materials with material pick it's unable.
At least the material picker in the Octane window need to be working.
I can't test it like this.
Cheers

Hi resmas,
just a bit of more patience,
as already said by Captain, the material picker issue has been already solved, and will be in the next plugin release.
Happy GPU Rendering,
ciao beppe

Ugh. I purchased Octane last December and spent a couple weeks working with it and it was pretty much an unmitigated disaster of a plugin product. I finally ended up getting a full refund with the promise I would purchase it again in the future when the 'bugs are fixed.'
Fast forward 8 months and there's a new version, which I went ahead and purchased so that I could check out the "new and improved" version. It sounds like from the comments people seem to *think* is stable, only not very much for me.
Couple startup questions:
1. Takes forever to launch SU2017 with this plugin. Does it HAVE to RUN at launch? Why not instantiate it when someone presses the Octane button? I will only use Octane once out of every dozen or so SketchUp sessions so why add the overhead?
2. I started messing around with the mouse controls in prefs and it got confused fast. Why no "reset" or "defaults" button? I had to look up a screen capture of the default settings online and then carefully 'reset' them based on what I can only assume is the correct settings. On a related note, are there any mouse settings which 'mirror' SketchUps?
3. I liked how it tracked the SketchUp window, but many, many times after I played around with lighting and material settings, it quit tracking. I could not figure out how to get it to track back.
4. I can make it crash every time by pressing the pause button, then the refresh button (to which I press cancel) and then the pause button again.
Most disappointingly, is the inability to actually create geometry while Octane is open. Here's a very simple scene which crashes immediately and every time. Perhaps someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong.
Below is a Youtube link. The youtube BBCode embed button doesn't work (not surprised).
