Hm .. 1080s have been tune up fine by ASUS etc ... Titan comes at a significantly lower speed .. wonder if that is a limit ir if it can be pushed up as hard without issues.

hi there, i think it wasn't a "mistake". the original titan was a based on gk110, the same chip as 780, true! but it wasn't the full/unlocked/kickass/bruce-lee version of the gk110 it was a cut down version as well. the 780ti was never ment to be faster then the titan, actually, i think it was never ment to se the light of the day. But they had to release it with a fully unlocked gk110 only because right after the original titan, amd launched their hawaii architecture, and the R9 290x was the fastest card on the market. I think they had to made this move just to take the crown back. Yes the 290x was ridicolously hot, loud etc. some model were ment to reach 95°C (yes, 95°!) many cards fried etc. nothing i would install in my pc, but yet, it was faster then anything else at that time.

SO...in my opinion, YES, you might see another ti version faster then the latest titan, IF amd launches something really good in the near future (vega or somesuch). Otherwise, we'll get exactly what you said, a card slightly slower then the titan, around 900$

Cheers~!
