Thanks
No problem. Have fun

So here are my renders
Octane, 2,08 using one GTX980Ti. Although the rendered image area is smaller due to demo restrictions.
Arnold, 4 minutes blank. Wierd that my Octane render turned out so dark compared to the Arnold one.

Hi Macurt,
Is that 2:08 mins? Octane alpha 3.2?
Tnx,
Seeker

Yes it's 2 minutes, 8 seconds. But it's Octane 2.23.2 R 6.2. Demo version.
Would love to try the 3 alpha, but it's restricted to licensed customers.

Ok, thanks Macurt. Would be interesting to see what v3 does with that scene on only one 980TI as a comparison...
Best,
Seeker

These tests are really irrelevant and cause more confusion than anything else. The fact that you are here means you love Octane for what it is. It is completely different from Arnold or Physical. Enjoy it, do not try to compare or turn it into something else.

Bit late to the party, and not trying to compare anything to anything, just a couple of hints that might be useful:
- You'll need to check off the "opaque" switch in the Arnold render stats on the sphere objects to have correct refractions and shadows.
- Then in Arnold most of the work is allocating the optimal number of samples when trying to reduce noise (different reasons for noise and different settings to reduce them), some useful info there
