I don't know how you folks are able to test anything. After the install, my attempt to activate throws the error "This plugin account (#######) is not valid for version 2.x"

never mind, stumbled into another thread that addressed this issue.

Yep, that did the trick. Many thanks, t_3 (and rajib). Wow, lots of new features to play with!
Only issue i've noticed so far is that materials seem to load automatically regardless of the box being unchecked.
Also, what joelgecko said: "NOT A BUG but I haven't found where to load a sky texture map in the daylight settings..."

great. i'm going to use an older packager version for the next setup file; in theory the latest version should have had some fixes esp. for win8.1, but hey, i'm the last one to raise his voice about fixes that didn't fix ;)

anyway @everybody who had problems with the current setup exe, please 1st try also the next one without compatibility switches.

and thanks for noting the materials thing - confirmed. will be fi... um, most probably work again with the update tomorrow. also the image pin for the sun environment and a couple others...

rajib wrote:If you are on Windows 8.1, just right click and select "Troubleshoot Compatibility". Then select "Try recommended settings". The installation completes successfully. I was getting a crash with the installation package. This is how I managed to run it.

I confirm that the plugin works on windows 8.1 only if you choose "troubleshoot compatibility".

I'm sure you have your hands full with a huge list of bugs. However, this one I found to be a set-back. It started with the geometry shifting away from where it should have been, so I went to downgrade back to version 1.2. To my surprise, Daz crashes immediately upon opening up the file I was working on with version 2.1.

What this means is that BEFORE you install the new version, make a COPY of your .duf file and label it v1 or v2 so that you can downgrade without losing your work. Opening a file and saving it as-is will make it incompatible.
Shifted geometry
Shifted geometry
Notice here the armor shifted away from the person (who's still sitting in the chair).
It also crashed immediately, but that is to be expected from test product.
Additional keyframes
Additional keyframes
Notice the additional keyframes that are generated out of the blue when scrubbing the timeline.
Also the focal distance slider is black (could be intentional, or a side affect).

Good Luck

Adding a few more bugs (version 2.1 R2.12), and some may be my own issues (if anyone else had/has these issues, please let me know how/if you fixed them):

Opening System tab while plugin is doing just about anything has a roughly 70% chance of hanging Daz Studio, requiring force close. (Rendering, loading an object, and loading materials so far are consistent).
The Paste from clipboard function doesn't appear to do anything. Items copied to clipboard are listed, but do not paste.
Dragging presets (which when saved in 1.2 do nothing in 2.1, may be related to paste functionality) to NGE works, but dragging mats from Used category does nothing.
Saving a preset (specific base mentioned below) does not save any map information, everything reverts to a color or "none."
Rename from linked surface seems to not always function correctly if a liveDb preset was dragged to the surface, not consistent. ("Plantarlapisupdate" and "Procedural brushed steel" presets have renamed the used list, apparently permanently, "Brown Leather (Procedural)" did not).

Only once (haven't tested again), loading an older (using OcDS 1.2) .duf full of presets while a new subset using default mats was present caused a massive chain of

Code: Select all

Can't connect node 'RGB Image' (NT_TEX_IMAGE, 0000000030F6A060) to static pin 'diffuse' (P_DIFFUSE, type PT_TEXTURE) of node 'Diffuse Material' (NT_MAT_DIFFUSE, 0000000030F45EA0)

errors for various nodes, causing Daz Studio to hang. System tab was already open when .duf was loaded. May be related to System Tab crashes above. Each subset loads individually just fine (this was tested a few times). Those same errors chain whenever the old preset is loaded, it mangles said preset pretty badly, but does not induce hang when loaded on its own. Preset is based on the old skin .duf 3dmania uploaded forever ago, if that helps. I presume a lot of nodes have changed names or locations since then, just figured I'd point out a specific preset with issues.

Optimistic about the progress so far, keep it up, t_3 :)

I get tons of "can't connect" messages and a couple models with their position shifted as well ( props, hair for now ).
