Can you just set it up and mark it as sticky? The plain info is a good idea.

I would like that, just to shed light into the question what card gives what.

We have the original bench test spread sheet set up a few years ago but there are some questionable stats on here.

I agree it would be great to get something like this refined and a standard proceedure to test hardware on.

Maybe Otoy could setup a new online spreadsheet that the forum could take over and manage?

Would be great to have a built in benchmark option in Octane, that would automatically send specs and score to Octane database and post it on the forum

they were working on such tool, but it never made, or just haven't made yet =) but yeah that would be awesome solution.. like You fire up a certain scene, or just push a button and all the metrics go to online db for users to have a ref point.

We have developed a benchmark tool which we plan to release soon. The original plan was to make it based on 2.06 (and then we would have released it already), but then with kernel changes of 2.10 we thought it would be a good idea to wait until that version has stabilized since the kernel speed change was quite significant (and there is still some work on the PMC kernel going on).

I expect that it will only be a matter of a couple of weeks until we release OctaneBench (which also comes with a database on the web server where the benchmark results can be seen).

Marcus, now that's awesome! thanks for great news! =)

Ok, but who generates the benchmarks?
We're talking about a card-specific / release-specific performance comparisons in oder to make informed decisions about hardware purchases. We can't expect you guys to get every OC'd / mem-boosted / cooler-enhanced card that hits the market and do benchmarks for every new version. Unless you want to that is...

If they are releasing it, I am thinking we download it, then send in the results after running it.

Anybody who wants to. We will run OctaneBench on the hardware we have here and then let you go the rest (or at least who is interested). During the 2.0 beta test most beta testers were keen to run their hardware on OctaneBench.

Sounds good. However, as suggested above, a 'single card' benchmark would help to compare apples with apples. I think there is a need to have that in addition to the 'mine's bigger than yours' club.

Best,
