Below is Roxy, at subd 1 (in the Octane settings), with sun size 2, and ray epsilon 0.00001. I don't see any artifacts.
Also - as Zay rightly says, you can rescale the scene in the Configuration settings to get around this.

The words of Zay only confirm what Octane all a year sells unfinished product for the price finished. AND DOES NOT WARN ABOUT PROBLEMS!

Hi - I can see the artifact in the Poser mesh too. I suspect there is an issue with the mesh at that point cause is causing rendering problems.
Daylight rendering is effectively a very small point light - so any mesh issues are going to be problems. "texture environment" lighting on the other hand is far more forgiving of these mesh issues because the light is coming from all directions.

However, in other applications, this problem is absent.
none of the developers had warned me that there is a problem!

If you set the sun size to 10, the problem also goes away. So there are many workarounds. And if you give Otoy a chance - they will look into the problem.
